Job Title: Machinist Location: Ontario, CA Job Type: Full-Time Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Pay: DOE ($16.50 – $30.00 per hour) About Us: AKS Machine Inc. is a family-owned and steadily growing business, proudly serving our customers since 2001. We specialize in precision machining and mold manufacturing and are seeking an experienced Machinist to join our team. Position Summary: The Machinist will be responsible for the safe and accurate operation of conventional machine tools to produce high-quality precision parts. This role requires strong technical knowledge of machining practices, the ability to interpret engineering blueprints, and the skill to hold tight tolerances on a wide variety of parts. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of setting up and running multiple machines while maintaining a clean and efficient work environment. Key Responsibilities: -Set up and operate conventional machinery, including mills, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders, and Blanchard grinders. -Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work instructions to determine machining requirements. -Manufacture precision parts to meet specified dimensions and tolerances. -Perform hand grinding and finishing as required. -Conduct routine maintenance on conventional machinery to ensure safe and reliable operation. -Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.). -Maintain accuracy, efficiency, and safety throughout all machining processes. -Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors regarding progress and potential challenges. Skills and Knowledge: -Strong understanding of machining theory, shop math, and geometry. -Proficiency in setting up and operating a variety of conventional machine tools. -Ability to hold and verify dimensional tolerances. -Skilled in blueprint reading and interpretation. -Competence with common hand tools and precision measurement equipment. -Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. -Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. -Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through. Physical Requirements: -Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. independently. -Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and manual dexterity for handling small components. -Visual and auditory acuity for inspecting parts and equipment. -Occasional computer uses for data entry and processing. Education & Experience: -High school diploma or equivalent required. -Minimum of 3 years of experience in general machining. -Minimum of 3 years' operating conventional manual machines required. -Experience in precision part handling strongly preferred. Manage scheduling, delegation of tasks, and ensure production goals are met. Monitor surface preparation, primer application, paint finish, and curing processes. Ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of paint booths, equipment, and PPE. Conduct quality checks to maintain high standards and prevent rework. Train team members on proper painting techniques and safety protocols. Order and manage inventory of paints, solvents, and related materials. Collaborate with Production and QA teams to troubleshoot and resolve paint-related issues. Enforce company policies and OSHA safety standards in the paint area.
