The mission of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribal Department of Public Safety is to protect life and property, maintain order, investigate crimes, enforce all applicable laws and ordinances, protect natural resources, enforce Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribal Fishing, Hunting, and Forest codes, investigate violations, arrest and issue citations on violators within the boundaries of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Reservation and within the boundaries of the Point No Point Treaty Area. The Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe, originally known as the Nux Sklai Yem or The Strong People, are descendants of the Salish peoples with ancestral ties to the Kitsap Peninsula that date back at least 1,000 years. Many of the Port Gamble S’Klallam’s members—totaling over 1,400—live on the Tribe’s reservation, which is located on the northern tip of Kitsap County in Washington state, near the neighboring towns of Kingston, Poulsbo, Indianola, Hansville, Port Gamble, and Bainbridge Island. Job Summary: The Tribal Prosecutor collaborates closely with and provides legal support to the Tribal Police Department, the Indian Child Welfare Program (ICW), Probation & Pretrial Services, the Natural Resources Department, Victim Services Program, Vulnerable Adult Program, and other Tribal departments and programs to assess Tribal interests and provide vigorous and effective prosecution services across a spectrum of crimes; juvenile delinquency and status offenses, child abuse and neglect, elder abuse and neglect, fish and wildlife offenses, including but not limited to civil exclusion matters, traffic offenses, and other relevant civil offenses with Tribal jurisdiction. Compensation/Benefits: • Pay range: DOE or salary of $45,000 - $60,000 for a fulltime 35-hour work week.
