Litigation Paralegal with Personal Injury experience – Full-Time Nestled in the vibrant community of San Rafael, our general civil litigation firm is on the lookout for a dedicated and experienced legal assistant or paralegal to enhance our practice. This is a full-time position Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, with the possibility of flexible working hours following a 90-day introductory period. Our ideal candidate is someone with a minimum of 2-5 years of law office experience, exceptional communication and organizational skills, attention for detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The ideal candidate for this position must possess the following attributes: • A strong knowledge of California rules and court procedures. • A solid understanding of every stage of case management, from inception to mediation, trial/settlement to post-mediation, post-trial/post-settlement. • A clear understanding of the discovery process and timelines. • The organizational skills to manage large caseloads and document productions. • The knowledge to prepare, format and edit legal documents such as pleadings, discovery, correspondence, as well as a background in conducting legal research. • The ability to multi-task and complete assignments quickly and accurately to meet demanding deadlines. • The ability to skillfully organize and effectively manage substantial caseloads while ensuring billable hours and expenses are accurately recorded each day. • Ability to use standard law office applications, software and platforms for managing projects/communications, formatting/drafting/eFiling legal documents, performing research and gathering information (Microsoft Business 365 -Outlook, MS word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint) Acrobat DC Pro, CEB, Clio, Clio Draft, BoxSign, LexisNexis, Zipforms etc.). • The ability to take initiative, be resourceful and anticipate needs of attorneys, staff, and clients. QUALIFICATIONS • Minimum 2-5 years of Litigation Paralegal experience in Personal Injury and Real Estate (Required) • Must be computer savvy with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat • Attention to detail is an absolute requirement • Excellent written and oral communications skills (Must provide a couple-paragraph writing sample) • Excellent interpersonal skills, you must be able to communicate and interact with clients, court staff, and other third parties on behalf of the firm in a professional and courteous manner • Adaptable and not afraid to learn new legal-related software • A self-starter who is not afraid to ask questions and navigate through uncertainty • Must be a team player to work effectively We offer competitive compensation and support professional growth. Responsibilities: Assist attorneys in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions from contracts and loan commitments through closing and post-closing. Draft and/or review and analyze all required correspondence and commercial purchase and sale, lease, loan, tax and escrow documents, including, but not limited to: Letters of Intent, Purchase and Sale Agreements, Escrow Instructions, Deeds of Trust, Promissory Notes, Releases of Liens, Continuing Guaranties, Loan Agreements, Environmental Indemnity Agreements, Leases, Estoppel Certificates, UCC forms and Security Agreements. Assist with commercial real estate due diligence, including title and survey reviews, title objection letters, lease reviews, municipal lien searches, and UCC, judgment, litigation and lien searches. Coordinate transaction from the beginning through close of escrow in preparation of commercial and municipal real estate deals, which includes affordable and public housing transactions. Prepare organizational documents and assist in entity formation. Prepare closing checklists, critical date timelines, title commitments, title policies, closing statements, title and other affidavits, entity authorizations, customary closing documentation, etc. Responsible for closing binders and assisting with other aspects of the transactions as needed, both locally and nationally.
