Description

Together with management, other departments, and AI resources, identifies, obtains, and posts primary source materials from various jurisdictions (primarily states) to enhance Tax Analysts’ document archives. Supervises a small team that assists in these tasks. Serves as project coordinator for new development efforts. Maintains and updates Tax Analysts’ state codes and regulations. Learns to build on existing processes and procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy, including new technologies and software to streamline work, maintaining quality assurance and controls. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet the department’s objectives. 1. Identifies primary source tax materials to enhance Tax Analysts’ primary source archives. 2. Identifies sources from which to obtain these primary source materials.. 3. Works closely with management and other departments to devise and implement a workflow to make these items available on the company’s website 4. Devises and documents procedures and style guidelines for accurately summarizing these materials. 5. Identifies issues and areas for improvement in various jurisdiction archives. 6. Maintains and updates state tax codes and regulations. 7. Hires and supervises a small team to ensure that deadlines are met, quality is maintained, and staff is appropriately trained to perform all necessary tasks. Supervisory tasks include recommending raises and instituting disciplinary actions and termination, according to established policies and procedures. 8. May keep abreast of current events and trends in tax law and legal publishing through pertinent literature, media, and outside contacts. 9. May participate in conferences, roundtable discussions, etc. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Familiarity and experience with State and Local Taxation (SALT) issues. Complete knowledge of Tax Analysts products and services (may be acquired on the job). Advanced knowledge of department processes and proprietary programs used to assemble reference products, including an understanding of data transformations (may be acquired on the job). Familiarity with other tax research products in the market (may be acquired on the job). Thorough understanding of how information and documents, including regulation and tax code amendments, are incorporated into reference products (may be acquired on the job) Extensive knowledge of data structure, including legacy data, and an understanding of the underlying structure of the many data collections, including inconsistencies and irregularities (may be acquired on the job) Must display sound judgment and problem-solving skills Basic workplace computer literacy. Motivated, well-organized, with good attention to detail. Ability to meet strict deadlines and adjust to changing priorities. Requirements College degree required, JD / LLM in Taxation a plus. 3+ years of experience, preferably tax, required. Supervisory experience preferred. Work experience in a federal or state tax administrative agency a bonus. Education or experience with Artificial Intelligence concepts. Demonstrated computer technical skills.
