Elfenbaum, Evers & Zielinska, P.C. is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented full-time paralegal to join our Illinois Workers’ Compensation law firm in our West Loop, Chicago office. We focus on helping injured workers recover the benefits they deserve under the law. We are looking for a professional, highly-motivated and organized individual with a positive can-do attitude that likes to interact and help people. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and take pride in helping clients on the phone; as well as be eager to learn, and excel in a collaborative team setting. Work Hours: • This is a full-time, in-person position based in our West Loop Chicago office, Monday -Friday, 9-5pm. Job Description: • You will serve as a point of contact for our clients, providing updates and answering client questions or initial concerns with empathy and professionalism; • Draft and file legal documents specific to workers’ compensation cases, including applications, motions/petitions, subpoenas and settlement contracts; • Obtain, organize, review and summarize medical records relevant to workers’ compensation claims; • Assist attorneys with writing medical records chronologies and legal briefs; • Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, including organizing trial exhibits and medical bills; and • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and records in our case management system. Qualifications We Are Seeking: • Associate or Bachelor’s degree (paralegal certification is a plus but not mandatory) • Eagerness to help and take pride in what you do • Excellent communication and organizational skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite • Bilingual a plus (Spanish speaker preferred) • Prior experience as a paralegal, preferably in workers’ compensation or working in organized labor, is highly desirable.
