The Technician II assists with maintenance tasks for company assets and assists maintenance staff with overhauling minor components and installing replacements, with electrical, hydraulic and computer diagnostics and with scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance. At least one year of verifiable preventative maintenance experience or technical degree with demonstrated knowledge of maintenance on class 8 vehicles or DOT Inspector License (per 49 CFR – Part 396.19) Must possess own tools Familiarity with shop equipment and safety practices Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Basic automotive knowledge Basic understanding of oil sampling theory and practices Mechanical aptitude Demonstrated aptitude for maintaining and repairing equipment Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines Ability to learn basic computer skills to communicate document daily work and progress, track procurements and repair status Ability to pay attention to detail and remain alert to ensure safety Ability to understand and follow instructions and to communicate with co-workers Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment High school diploma or its equivalent Class B commercial driver’s license Safe driving for the last five years Formal training in preventive maintenance operations Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified or the ability to obtain certification Valid Texas Class driver’s license Safe driving record for the past three years Current State Inspector License or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment *Texas Disposal Systems is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
