Job Description:
To oversee the day-to-day operations and workload management of the Burbank Theatrical Subtitling team and to make sure that the subtitling deliverables are output as per schedule and to the highest quality and technical standards. To assist in defining and implementing workflows and processes to make sure client expectations are met. To develop, optimise and streamline the services and deliverables provided by the Pixelogic Theatrical Subtitling team.
The ideal candidate will be expected to have previous theatrical subtitling experience and a solid understanding of the technical aspects of the various content specifications they will be handling. They will be highly motivated, possess a flexible attitude, and must be able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. In addition, they must be able to work as part of a team that deals with changing priorities and workloads.
Responsibilities:
Supervising the Burbank Theatrical Subtitling team, delegating and load balancing workload to successfully feed the Digital Cinema supply chain
Managing the day-to-day prioritisation of workload to make sure mastering and client deadlines are met
Supervising the daily hand over process to make sure Subtitling jobs are handed over in a correct and clear manner, and client and mastering deadlines are not jeopardised
Liaising with the Theatrical Client Services and Project Management team (Digital Cinema and Localization) to make sure client demands and deadlines are communicated clearly to the Theatrical Subtitling team
Assisting in the training and development of both current and new team members. Communicating any performance, or other, issues to the Manager
Working closely with the Client Services and Production Operations Management team on project and capacity planning
Leading team meetings when necessary to make sure project requirements are communicated to the Burbank Theatrical Subtitling team
Overseeing the facilitation of subtitling projects (feature and trailer) and making sure client and territory guidelines and specification are followed
Dealing with high profile client requests and making sure client expectations are met
Recording statistics and preparing reports as required
Assisting in the creation and documentation of Subtitling workflows and procedures, new client and territory requests; and making sure they are successfully communicated to the Burbank Theatrical Subtitling team
Acting as an escalation point, troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions
Performing day to day routine subtitling tasks including but not limited to:
Perform subtitle pre-qualification for supplied subtitle files to ensure they meet the required technical specifications
QC and post processing of theatrical subtitle files, making temporal and positional corrections according to client guidelines and procedures
Creation of final subtitle XMLs (and other file-based deliverables) for feature and trailer content for Digital Cinema, OTT and Home Entertainment, ensuring outputs adhere to highest quality standards and specifications
Creation of media and file-based subtitle proofs for client approval
Completion of subtitle QC reports composing a clear description to note defects and to include proper details for further troubleshooting
Active participation in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any subtitle rejections
Abide by company security policies and protect information assets
Other duties as assigned by the Manager
Requirements
Required Skills:
Strong technical skills and good understanding of Digital Cinema, OTT / Home Entertainment subtitling formats, frame rates and aspect ratios
Working knowledge of professional subtitling software essential
Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and ability to adapt to different software
Ability to prioritize, manage work orders and work well under pressure to achieve deadlines whilst producing high quality work
Working knowledge of professional subtitling tools and applications are a bonus
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to work on own initiative and be a good team player
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Problem solver with creative and innovative approach with ability to think out of the box
Ability and willingness to learn new methods, procedures, or techniques and take on new tasks
Experience:
Minimum 1–2 years theatrical subtitling experience gained within a Digital Cinema/Localization Post Production environment
Solid understanding of end to end theatrical and downstream subtitling workflows and processes
Secondary language skills are not essential but experience with working with a variety of languages and possess a strong working knowledge of language structures and different alphabets are crucial
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College/University or equivalent professional experience
