Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission aligned Safety Officer with the Safety Department. The Safety Officer will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life. We are seeking part-time Safety Officers to provide safety and welfare for the students and staff at all HCZ buildings. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Valid and up to date, 8 and 16 hour Security certificates; New York State Security license required Who You Are Must have related experience that required keen observation, vigilance, and continual awareness of your surroundings Must have situational awareness to quickly respond to potential threats and other problems that may arise Health level and physical characteristics suitable for security duties Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work morning, evening, and/or night shifts Must be reliable and punctual Work with a high level of integrity and honesty Must be a team-player Must be agile and able to pivot and adapt as needed Rotate various HCZ sites as needed What You’ll Do  Serve as the person responsible for providing for the safety and welfare of students and staff at all HCZ buildings Conducts general risk assessments and identify dangerous situations in and around the school or involving students at school related activities Monitor student activity in the hallways and intervene proactively to prevent inappropriate and/or dangerous behavior Securing the premises and personnel by staying on patrol, monitoring surveillance equipment, performing building inspections, guarding entry points and verifying visitors Maintain order and compliance with the school code of conduct, policies and regulations Comply with the strict regulation against sitting down and socializing Respond promptly to the signal for calling the Security Officer Maintain incident records Present written descriptive reports for major incidents Perform other duties as assigned Schedule Must be available for a 6-day work week (morning, afternoon, overnight, and weekends) Adherence to attendance and punctuality is non-negotiable Benefits As a member of the Harlem Children's Zone team, you will join a supportive and inclusive community dedicated to helping children, families — and our staff — thrive.  Please take a look at our Part-Time benefits below.  Our exceptional Part-Time benefits include:  Career advancement Paid sick leave Employee referral bonus  Physical wellness discounts Commuter benefits Additional Benefits (Discounts on flights, hotels, theme parks, concert tickets, and more.) Our locally owned uniform company has served the public safety, medical, and hospitality industries for over 30 years and we are looking for a enthusiastic candidate to join our team. This position requires assisting customers in our store and on the phone with all their uniform requirements including fitting, alteration instructions, pricing, putting out stock, taking inventory and invoicing. This is a FAST PACE, DETAIL ORIENTED environment so the ability to multitask is a must. Because our customers come from the public safety, medical, and hospitality sectors they are unique and fun to get to know and our theme is "We make our customers look great!" Candidate must be able to work 9-3 and or 11-6 during the week and 10-4 on Saturdays and we are closed on Sundays. Starting wage $18/hr DOE
