Definition and Purpose Under the supervision of the  Coordinator – Rose Float, the Intermittent Rose Float Technician will be responsible for advising and assisting volunteers with the technical aspects of Rose Float planning and implementation. Additionally, all ASI employees are responsible for upholding the core values of the organization including but not limited to exhibiting professional behavior, acting as a role model to others, displaying a positive and cooperative attitude, communicating effectively, developing expert knowledge in area of specialization, and working together as a team. Requirements Educational and Qualifying Experience, Skills, Licenses, Credentials Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Two years of technical experience related to float construction. General knowledge of the methods, materials and tools used in float design, construction and decoration.. Current American Red Cross Certification in the following: Adult CPR, First Aid, and AED Must hold a CA Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to our insurance underwriters Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise student volunteers as necessary Facilitate weekend lab meetings and lab work days, establish safe work practices, and monitor work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Rose Float Activities: Assist with the planning and implementation of Rose Float Activities. Develop and execute assessment of programs and/or service areas of responsibility including but not limited to setting and implementing goals, evaluation outcomes and ongoing enhancement. Maintain thorough knowledge of Tournament of Roses Float Manual and practice compliance measures. Responsible for assisting the Rose Float Leadership Team with regulations and compliance. Serve as part of the Rose Float Advising Team and meet regularly with the  Coordinator – Rose Float. Coordinate annual maintenance and repair of equipment and devices in the Rose Float Lab, ensuring they are properly serviced, adjusted, and operational. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to interact with a diverse group of people. Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position. Ability to make arithmetic computations where required. Knowledge of Windows based computer systems. Safety Risk  & Management: Provide technical advice relative to float construction, lab equipment and its operation. Coordinate and/or conduct the necessary training workshops to ensure the safety of students in hydraulics, welding and other related skills. Interpret University policies and procedures as they relate to campus organizations, use of facilities, vehicles, and machinery. Ensure that Rose Float is in compliance with appropriate University policies, regulations and procedures to include risk management, environmental health and safety, public safety, facilities and machinery etc. Monitor risk management issues in and around Rose Float facilities. Technical, Construction and Design: Ensure sound design and construction of the Rose Float that meets the Tournament of Rose Float requirements. General oversight, coordination and hands-on assistance to Rose Float Leadership Team including reviewing design plans and schematics. Communication: Communicate any unsafe or hazardous issue to the Coordinator – Rose Float and/or the appropriate department. Inform ASI Business Office of donations to the Rose Float Lab. Assign projects to volunteers as appropriate. Other Duties and Responsibilities Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Must be willing to travel as required. Attend Saturday Lab Days on the San Luis Obispo campus. Attend joint Lab Days at Cal Poly Pomona (typically late October through late December). Attend Deco week in Pasadena (typically December 26th through January 2nd). Attend float inspection (dates and inspecition locations to be determined). Attend and participate in meetings as necessary. The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in ASI policy as a condition of their employment. Background Check This position is subject to a background check (including criminal records) as well as National Address Locater (Social Security Number [SSN] Trace), 7 year County Criminal Search in each county and/or state the applicant lived in based on the SSN Trace, National Criminal Database Search, Name Search, Employment Verification (All employers in past 7 years) and Education Verification (Highest Degree). Travel Support Specialist-536289
The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), Executive Office (EX), Procurement and Administrative Services Division (PAS), has a requirement for contractor support to its E2 travel operations team. As part of ECA/EX’s effort to increase the PAS travel team’s operational capacity and capabilities, the Government intends to procure two full time E2 travel experts (one at junior level and one at senior level) to assist the travel team with its full range of travel operations. These operations are comprised of six distinct functional areas: E2 Operations, Passport and Visa Processing, Travel Analytics and Operational Assessments, Customer Relations, Policy, and Customer Training. The contractor will complete day-to-day operations in each of these areas, bring both existing E2 and State Department knowledge, as well as industry best practices, to PAS travel team operations. Responsibilities:  The contractor shall utilize existing knowledge and best practices to assist the PAS travel team with all obligations and operations taking place within the E2 travel system. Tasks in the area include the following: Following all government-wide and State Department specific regulations, review, edit, return and/or process all travel authorizations and vouchers submitted for ECA, R/PPR, and GEC employees. This is inclusive of all amendments that may be necessary to submitted authorizations and vouchers. Attend, either in-person or remotely, all State Department and/or government-wide meetings involving updates or changes that impact ECA E2 travel and operations. The contractor shall serve as the E2 expert for all ECA, R/PPR, and GEC customers, handling all questions and concerns about system operations, and assisting them in identifying future travel needs. Tasks in this area include the following: Operate a dedicated phone line for customer E2 problems and concerns between the hours of 0900 and 1500, Monday – Friday, with the exception of Federal Holidays, troubleshooting reported issues. Serve as desk-side support for all Senior Leadership at the 2200 C St. NW, Washington DC, 20037 locations, (Deputy Assistant Secretary/equivalent and higher) for all E2 problems and concerns between the hours of 0900 and 1500, Monday – Friday, with the exception of Federal Holidays. All requests for assistance must be responded to within on business hour, with the majority expected to be resolved within 24 hours. Meeting with all customer groups on a quarterly basis and identify all anticipated travel for that time period. Report the results of these interactions to the PWS travel team. The contractor shall utilize knowledge of State Department Travel Policy and operation to assist the Government in efforts to draft travel policy and associated SOPs. Develop onboarding training on the E2 system inclusive of basics such as system purpose and how to obtain a log on, updating as SOPs, system changes, and best practices emerge, and host trainings on the material as needed for onboarding employee groups. Develop training on all aspects of traveling within the State Department, updating as SOPs, system changes, and best practices emerge. These trainings may be inclusive of trainings on the local policy and SOPs that are created under this contract. Host trainings on the material for the customers on as the new material arises. Create general educational materials, such as brochures, info graphs, and tips and tricks, on State Department Travel. Send these materials to the customer base via month travel notes emails.
