We’re currently looking for a knowledgeable Network Engineer to support and maintain secure, high-performance IT networks in a professional environment serving government personnel. This position involves hands-on troubleshooting, network maintenance, end-user support, and helping ensure critical systems run reliably and securely. Ideal candidate will thrive on supporting and improving existing systems, resolving complex technical issues, and working professionally with end-users and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up, maintain, and support LANs, WANs, VPNs, and wireless networks.
• Monitor network performance and respond to issues quickly and effectively.
• Troubleshoot outages, performance issues, and connectivity problems.
• Manage firewalls, VPN configurations, and other security tools in compliance with best practices.
• Provide day-to-day technical support for end-user systems (Windows PCs, Macs, Microsoft 365, ERP platforms, etc.).
• Occasionally assist government employees with home setup support when required.
• Offer technical guidance and training to staff and internal teams.
• Maintain clear documentation of network settings, procedures, and configurations.
• Be available for emergency support situations when needed (after-hours availability may be required).
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in a Network Engineer or similar IT support role.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols like TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, and OSPF.
• Proficient with networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points).
• Comfortable supporting Windows and macOS systems, along with common business software.
• Familiarity with network diagnostic and monitoring tools (such as ConnectWise or similar).
• Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Professional demeanor and ability to work respectfully with government employees and staff.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
• Effective communicator and team player.
• Flexibility to respond to urgent technical issues after hours, if necessary.
