Hours/Days – Typically, 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Position based out of the Bend Bear Creek Maintenance yard located at the base of Pilot Butte Benefits include health, dental and vision. Summary of Duties: Perform day-to-day operational and preventative maintenance for all vehicles, to include, but not limited to the inspection, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of a variety of light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, and equipment. Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - AA Degree in Automotive Technology plus some specialized training in maintenance management, or a closely related field; three (3) years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience necessary to perform the required job duties. - Thorough knowledge of automotive mechanics, gas and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, wheelchair lifts, automotive HVAC systems; price trends and grades or quality of materials and equipment. - Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to municipal maintenance and repair activities. - Working knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools used in modern equipment maintenance. - Skill in operation of required tools and equipment. - Ability to establish and maintain effective preventive maintenance programs, policies, and procedures. - Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion. - Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, vendors, and the public. - Must pass a criminal background and driving background check. - Must have or attain a valid Oregon Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and air brake restriction lifted within 6 months of hire date as an essential function of the position. - Valid driver's license and access to a private vehicle or equivalent means of transportation. - Must successfully pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen. - Must provide own basic hand tools used in the repair of vehicles and equipment. - Work independently and effectively without close supervision. - Effective verbal and written communication skills. - To establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. - Have strong organizational and time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure. - To work with and keep confidential sensitive personnel information.
