Job Title: C.A.P. POSITION SUMMARY: The Preschool Chinese Teacher is responsible for the management and supervision of a group of 12 children between the ages of 2 and 5. The incumbent must possess the physical ability to lead and interact in activities and games with children, monitor behavior requiring separation and participate in curriculum activities and housekeeping responsibilities. Provides excellent customer service to students' parents and communicates with them on a routine and daily basis. This is a part-time position that could be a full time later on. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Leader in planning and preparation of the creative learning environment and preparation of needed materials and supplies using a variety of resources.  • Supervise and lead the activity areas (all weather conditions) and actively engages in activities with children.  • Provide leadership and direction in a school setting • Documents children's experiences and maintain accurate attendance records, observations and reporting on an ongoing basis • Encourage the children to participate in all activities.  • Demonstrates an understanding of the developmental needs of pre-school age children and provides personal attention to all children. • Deeply understands how to implement different approaches to learning as it fits each individual child • Performs student and parent evaluations. • Provide support and is available as a resource to other staff members in need of assistance (i.e. lesson plans, staff in-services, duty schedules, etc...). • Attendance at all staff meetings and trainings. • Understands the importance of time-management throughout the flow of each day • Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.  • Ensure the safety, health and welfare of all children by good hygiene methods, closely monitoring children and environment, preventing any accidents/injuries and taking immediate action to get aid if necessary. QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum 18 years of age. . Must be Native Chinese Speaker •Very strong oral and written communication skills • Must have clearance through finger printing, criminal records and child abuse index background investigation. • Attend Mandated Reporter AB1207 online class. • Must be HS graduate or possess GED, 12 units in Early Childhood Development courses plus minimum 2 years teaching experience. • Must have physician's clearance and current TB test. • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days of hire. • Experience working with children in an organized setting.  • Must have visual and auditory abilities to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act immediately in emergency situations. Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM , Must be flexible; hours can vary. Preschool is a year-round school. Work in our family's home with a young adult with autism, fairly high on the spectrum. Provide respite care that includes long walks in the park, preparing meals, light housework, reading stories and other activities such as puzzles and helping him to perform his chores. Students of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy with experience working with with autistic clients are very welcome! Our son has some speech and also uses ipad and the proloquo app to communicate. He loves to take long walks in Central Park, which is across the street from our home at the very northeast corner of the park in East Harlem. He loves music, photographs, and puzzles. 20-30 hours per week are available; we can schedule around your availability. We are close to both the 110 street stop on the 2/3 and the 6 subways.
