Performing preventive maintenance of various types of commercial HVAC equipment to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly is the primary responsibility of the Preventive Maintenance Helper. Types of equipment include air handlers and VAV systems. You may also assist workers and journeyman by performing general duties of lesser skill, such as keeping them supplied with materials and tools; holding materials and tools; and cleaning working area, machines, or equipment. Key Responsibilities Inspect motors, pulleys and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists. Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery. Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts. repair or replace parts and reassemble equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned Essential Skills Some knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in heating and cooling equipment and machinery Works effectively in a team. Use a CMMS program to complete preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and projects. Work with warehouse leaders to improve equipment efficiency. Report to the Regional Maintenance Manager on task completion. Maintain good housekeeping practices in the shop and equipment room. Inspect equipment on the roof and investigate for leaks as scheduled. Assist with repairs and maintenance of the facility building. The Refrigeration Technician role is ideal for individuals with strong time management skills, the ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships, and the capacity to communicate across functional lines at all levels.
