A tire technician installs, repairs, balances, and replaces tires on various vehicles, ensuring vehicle safety and customer satisfaction. Key duties include mounting and dismounting tires, performing tire repairs like patching punctures, using tire changers and balancing machines, inspecting tires for wear and damage, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. They must also follow safety protocols, operate power tools and lifts, potentially assist with customer service, and sometimes perform roadside assistance or fleet checks. Key Responsibilities: Tire Installation & Replacement: Removing old tires and wheels, installing new tires, and remounting them onto vehicles. Tire Maintenance & Repair: Performing tire rotations, balancing, repairing small punctures, and replacing valve stems. Equipment Operation: Using and maintaining machinery such as tire changers, wheel balancers, lifts, and various hand and power tools.
