Maplehill School and Farm is a safe, caring, land-based educational community on 230 acres in central Vermont, where relationships inspire learning. We are looking for an Instructional Assistant (IA) who can bring enthusiasm and creativity to working one on one with middle and high school-age students. The ideal candidates are positive, dynamic individuals who will enjoy building resilience in students and be able to bring a deep sense of compassion and joy to this meaningful work. We engage our students with a holistic approach to education through academics, social/emotional learning, service projects, recreational activities, farming, and gardening. We are committed to a learning model rooted in milieu therapy and nurturing authentic relationships between students, caregivers, staff, volunteers, and community members. We support therapeutic and restorative practices, self-reflection, clear and empathic communication, personal resilience, and taking care. We believe in honoring our students for who they are, recognizing individual strengths and nurturing potential, and that students have widely varying skills, abilities, and interests and learn in many different ways. A driver’s license, background check, and good driving record are required. Skills or enthusiasm around the arts, carpentry, mechanics, or physical recreation preferred. ASD experience is a plus. The starting wage range is $20/hr, commensurate with experience and education, and includes a benefits package.
