Facilities Maintenance Technician (Phinney Ridge / Greenwood)

The mission of the Phinney Neighborhood Association (PNA) is to build, engage, and support our diverse community through programs, services, and activities that connect neighbors and foster civic engagement. Position Overview The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in maintaining and repairing building systems across multiple sites, including our senior center, community center, and elementary school facilities. This position focuses on boiler operations, electrical systems, plumbing infrastructure, and ADA compliance while ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for seniors, children, and community members. Key Responsibilities Boiler & HVAC Systems • Operate, monitor, and maintain boilers in accordance with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines. • Perform seasonal start-up, shut-down, and preventive maintenance on boiler and HVAC systems. • Diagnose and repair malfunctions, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency. Electrical Systems • Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including lighting, outlets, wiring, and controls. • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues safely and in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). • Replace or upgrade lighting fixtures, ensuring energy efficiency and ADA-compliant illumination. Plumbing Systems • Maintain, repair, and replace plumbing fixtures, piping, valves, and pumps. • Clear drains, repair leaks, and ensure water supply systems meet health and safety standards. • Support preventive maintenance schedules for all plumbing infrastructure. ADA Compliance & Accessibility • Ensure building systems, entrances, restrooms, signage, and paths of travel remain ADA-compliant. • Perform repairs or adjustments to maintain accessibility for individuals with disabilities. • Collaborate with leadership to identify and address barriers to accessibility. General Maintenance • Perform minor carpentry, painting, flooring, and other building repairs. • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies at any facility location. • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inspection reports. Qualifications Required • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing trades. • 3+ years of experience in facilities maintenance with hands-on work in boiler, electrical, and plumbing systems. • Knowledge of ADA accessibility requirements for facilities. • Ability to work effectively across multiple sites and adapt to the needs of senior and children-focused environments. • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Must pass a criminal background check in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Preferred • Low Pressure Boiler Operations. • Journeyman-level experience in electrical or plumbing. • OSHA 10 or 30 certification. • Experience in historic building maintenance. Physical Requirements • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks, including climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces. • Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments. Compensation This is a 20-30 hour per week, Monday through Friday position paying $28±/hour DOE. We offer a mission-driven, people-oriented, caring working environment.
