The role of the Science Lab Tech and Support individual is to support the education of students through a variety of duties so that student learning and teacher instruction is maximized. Additionally, this role also includes the responsibility as Yearbook Advisor. The Yearbook Advisor provides advice, expertise, direction, and supervision to yearbook students as well as monitors progress towards the overall yearbook goal and oversees publication of the yearbook. We are seeking an individual who will: • Science Lab Tech and Support Role o Order chemicals and kits o Prepare solutions for chemistry and biology labs as requested o Dispose of chemical and biological waste throughout the year including end-of-year hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste o Maintain an inventory of science lab materials including quantities and labeling and report to the Fire Marshall as requested o Maintain the Material Safety Data Sheets notebook so that it aligns with the inventory o Supervise students during lunch and process Lunchtab requests o Supervise and monitor students including proctoring assessments o Substitute for teachers as needed • Yearbook Role o Develop student organization and leadership skills o Help develop the capabilities and talents of yearbook staff o Inspire journalism, design, and photography skills o Timely publication of the school yearbook o Give examples of excellence in design or photography o Explore ways to expand the idea and scope of yearbook to the general population o Mentor and supervise student editors o Provide administrative support o Review and approve all yearbook content before publication o Help student editors organize and run yearbook class during JanTerm o Maintain clear and consistent communication with student editors and yearbook publication representative o Create and maintain an active calendar of publication deadlines o Prepare weekly plans o Maintain classroom management conducive to learning o Inform Division Head and parents of student’s academic or behavioral difficulties and work together as a team to plan and implement success strategies if needed o Keep accurate attendance records o Complete progress and grade reports for each student in a timely manner using school guidelines o Keep accurate and detailed records of each student’s progress to substantiate reports o Collaborate with Office of Marketing and Communications to ensure all details of the yearbook meet the school’s marketing and logo guidelines o Request authorization for all expenditures o Dress in a professional manner o Keep classroom neat and pleasant in appearance The successful individual in this position will: • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. • Take initiative. • Execute tasks independently when needed and work cooperatively with a team regularly. Required Experience and Education: • High school diploma required • Experience in best practices for mixing chemicals for chemistry instruction • Experience with digital photography/design skills • Ability to relate well with students • Ability to nurture student leadership skills • Knowledge of photojournalism • Familiarity or experience with classical Christian education preferred • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft 365 • Hold CPR/AED/First Aid certification (with epinephrine autoinjector supplement) or obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date • Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer (sponsorship is not available for this position) It's more than a Job.
