ShareIs it possible to have a few IRL depression support friends who actually meet? Ive often felt like whats missing in my seeking help is the friend who also knows depression and the topic is not taboo, but always on the table as a possible subject to discuss. Almost like a counselor but more casual and friendly. People who agree to meet say once a week, share some laughs, some walks, talks, visits to parks, cafes or museums, but also share supportive insights into their dealings with depression. Yes i have some friends but ive always felt lonelier with them by the fact (i have learned) that people shy away from what they consider this dark unspeakable topic. This happens even though these friends might also be struggling, yet its a forbidden topic and it is better to distract ourselves. I have since learned the hard way not to mention my struggles, because it drives them away. Well thats okay, but i still think it would help to have at least one person with whom we can be casual counselors for each other and vent these topics. If theres people in new orleans who have that some struggle and want to have a friendship where its okay to feel depressed and talk about it, give me a shout?
