This is a 1977 Checker A12E. This is one of the rare Checkers that was never a taxi. If memory serves (it has been a while since I've gone over the incomplete paperwork I got with the car) I think it belonged to a funeral home down south and then a real estate company in Montana. I have owned it since 2016. I've finally decided to move on as I want to get either a street rod or muscle convertible and I have a single garage space for a classic. I am open to both offers and trades/partial trades for a good to go street rod or muscle convertible (what I'm looking for may need to include money from my end) The odometer states 26xxx. I assume it has rolled over. I'm sure the car was at least partially restored at some point (based on previous purchase prices in the paperwork, obviously newer paint, no badging etc.). As to the details: The good: It runs like a top. An ad I have from a previous owner states: New Chevy Target Master Engine V-8 350cid at 51K miles. I have no way to verify that. In 2022 I had my mechanic go over it and fix some things and he called it mechanically "bulletproof". He told me it was a Chevy 350 with 400 Turbo transmission. At that point the fan clutch was replaced, the carb rebuilt and the valve cover gaskets replaced, among more minor things. If I recall correctly I believe this is the final year with the oppositional wipers Sweet car and obviously gets a lot of attention I put new tires on the car when I bought in and a new battery at some point. I keep it on a charger during the winter. The interior is in fantastic shape I have kept it garaged since I bought it. Comes with a couple cabbie caps (including a Checker one) Comes with a fair amount of not particularly useful historical paperwork, repair receipts, etc The things I know are wrong with it, from front to back: The adjustment screw on the left front headlight is zip tied shut and should be replaced. Due to this the headlight aim is low and left, though cosmetically it looks fine The windshield wiper fluid doesn't work and I have no idea why but I never cared enough to have it checked out. The heater/defrost blows but does not really work well in the cabin, I am advised by the mechanic the rear filter of the heater unit under the dash is probably blocked with lint/dust and should be removed and cleaned, but just never got around to it as I drive it only in good weather The radio worked fine when I bought the car but has no power now and I never investigated beyond the fuse to establish what the issue is. The car wash I used for a while removed parts of the aftermarket pinstriping, this will be evident in the photos If you drive with the rear windows down, the headliner bows in the center of the rear passenger compartment pop down and have to be popped back up into place. I am advised this is because the C-pillars in the rear are allowing air in above the headliner and need to be plugged. There is some bubbling in the paint on one of the lower sills and around some of the windows (see photos). The new paint job looks fine for the most part but was not high end. The door locks don't work smoothly and could use some adjustment. I don't keep anything of value in the car so I didn't really care I've scraped up a couple spots on the lower sides of the bumpers negotiating it backwards into my garage along a rock wall (see pics). My bad. No badging was replaced on the restoration or repaint. A Packard hood ornament was added. Whether this is good or bad is in the eye of the beholder, I guess Price is OBO If you have any additional questions or comments please let me know. Thanks Nate
