Walker Requirements & Expectations To maintain trust, safety, and legal compliance, we require Basic qualifications: - Must be 18 years or older - Must be eligible to work as a 1099 independent contractor (you’ll provide your own tax documentation, carry your tools, and no required minimum hours) - Must have a valid government-issued ID - Legal right to work in your jurisdiction - Must own and use an Apple iOS or Android device - Must have the sufficient mobility to safely and efficiently complete walks Background & trust standards (for your safety and ours): - A comprehensive 10-year criminal background check, including national, state, and county records - Consent to checks of sex offender registry, watchlists, and aliases - Identity verification (SSN trace, government ID matching) - References (past pet care / walking experience will be prioritized) - In certain regions, we may require additional checks (e.g. motor-vehicle record if walking near roads, local ordinances) Responsibilities: - Arrive on time to scheduled walks - Handle dogs safely, kindly, and professionally - Use the Woofer app for check-in, walk path tracking, and post-walk report - Maintain communication (via app) with owners and support - Follow all safety, leash laws, and local animal regulations - Present yourself well (groomed, wearing or carrying required identification or app badge) and potentially in branded gear Performance & standards: - Maintain at least 95% on-time reliability - High customer satisfaction (owner ratings) of 4.8+ - No major safety incidents or complaints - Cooperate with periodic compliance audits or retraining How To Apply & What Happens Next - Visit our website www.gowoofer.com/apply and complete the interest form - We will review your information and let you know if we will move forward with sending you a digital consent form for background & identity checks - We will then contact you with next steps A Few Notes on 1099 Status & Compliance - As a 1099 contractor, you retain independence (you choose when and how much you walk). - You are responsible for your own taxes and personal insurance (Woofer provides insurance coverage for all walks). - Woofer will not control your day-to-day methods (no forced route, no mandated hours), which helps maintain your independent contractor status. - All background checks and personal data handling comply with Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and local privacy laws.
