In this role, you will collaborate closely with software, hardware, and operations teams to ensure the successful delivery of reliable, high-performance network solutions. Your technical expertise will directly influence product development and roadmaps, helping to drive innovation and ensure our solutions meet the evolving needs of mission-critical defense programs.  Key Responsibilities:  Design, configure, and implement network and switching solutions in mission-critical defense systems.  Evaluate and integrate commercial and custom switch/router hardware into secure system architectures.  Own roadmaps for our commercial switch products, taking in requirements from multiple stakeholders in the organization.  Drive development of our switch products to a production schedule, working with the engineering team to overcome obstacles, make implementation trade-offs, and provide technical direction.  Develop and document system architectures, network diagrams, and data flows.  Support lab and field testing, including test plan development and execution.  Analyze performance and reliability metrics, recommending enhancements where needed.  Interface with customers and stakeholders for technical discussions, design reviews, and requirement clarifications.  Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.  Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing custom embedded switch products. Strong knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, OSPF, etc.).  Experience with network configuration tools, packet analyzers, and diagnostic equipment.  Understanding of DoD systems, requirements, and acquisition lifecycle.  U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a [Secret/Top Secret] security clearance.  Preferred Qualifications:  5+ years of experience in systems or network engineering, ideally in a defense or aerospace environment.  Experience with VICTORY or CMOSS standards.  Experience developing custom switch hardware solutions.  Familiarity with embedded systems and real-time environments.  Prior work on ground vehicles, avionics, or tactical systems.  Experience supporting RMF/IA activities for networked systems.  Hands-on experience with enterprise and embedded switches/routers (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Curtiss-Wright, VICTORY standards).  Benefits Pacific Defense provides competitive salaries and immediately vested 401K match. Assists the team in ensuring member services are operational 24x7 and supports organization strategic goals and objectives. Essential Functions • Architects, designs, implements, and supports credit union network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, IDS/IPS, SD-WAN, wireless, telephony, vendor circuits, and other communication systems. • Architects, designs, implements, and supports credit union network to ensure high availability of systems including Citrix, Microsoft Windows Server, Email, Virtual Servers (HyperV), Web Filtering, and Database Systems. Designs and implements solutions which operate efficiently, generate a minimum of support calls, and result in few or no emergency actions after deployment. • Architects and directs the implementation of remote service solutions including cloud-based D/R systems, cellular backups, VPNs, remote access for staff, vendor communication, Internet, and site-to-site connections. Provides escalated support for the Systems Administrator as needed. • Implements security networking topologies and features such as VLAN separation, access lists, IPSEC VPN tunnels, AAA authentication, and network load balancing. • Documents and educates Information Systems and Information Security staff on network system operation and support. Education and Experience • Requires a four-year college degree in Computer Science, Computer or Systems Engineering, Information Systems, or similar computer field, or equivalent experience. • Requires at least one Palo Alto Networks Specialist certification. • Requires knowledge and demonstrated experience in Networking Systems, such as Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Fiber/MPLS/T1, VPN systems, Firewall Administration, Routers, Switches, and SD-WAN. • Minimum of 5 years experience architecting, designing, and implementing network solutions such as Cisco switches and routers, VPNs, Cisco ASA and Palo Alto firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SD-WAN. • Experience with complex Windows environments including Windows Server, Windows Domains, multi-segment LANs, distributed server environments, and virtual servers, is desirable. • Minimum of 10 years total experience implementing, upgrading, and maintaining network and computer systems in a high-availability environment. • Financial services experience is desirable.
