ABOUT THE ROLE: The Field Technician reports to the Jersey Shore Laboratory in Waretown, New Jersey. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license as well as a clean driving record to drive to and from sampling locations using a company vehicle. The starting rate of pay is $17.00 per hour for a full-time, 30-hour workweek, Monday through Friday. WHAT YOU'LL DO: The primary responsibility of the Field Technician is the performance of water tests and sample collections at assigned locations. Testing and sample collection may include municipal wells, city water, private homes, public locations, sewer and water plants, wastewater, and pools. Employees may also set up sample composite machines for next-day sample pickup. Employees are trained in proper and compliant collection techniques as well as transport protocols to a certified laboratory. QUALIFICATIONS: No prior experience is required, but interested candidates should have experience in roles that require detailed procedures, good communication skills with clients, outdoor work, as well as meeting daily deadlines. Ability to go into a service call with limited knowledge or data of a known issue and independently diagnose the root cause, propose how to fix the issue, and properly communicate to on-site staff the stage of repair. Termination of wiring (Cat 5e/6/6A, Coax, 14/2, 18/2 etc.). Terminations of CCTV, Access Control, and Visitor Entry Systems. Installing support structures for solutions (Racks, J-Hooks, conduits, etc.). Maintain a professional positive relationship with the customer and pass on needed information to the appropriate personnel for follow-up. Read and interpret various blueprints, diagrams, and submittals. Additional experience with fire alarm systems (preferred). PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Duties include the use of a ladder. May be asked to perform tasks that require long periods of standing, sitting, bending, twisting or reaching above the shoulders. May include driving to and from multiple service calls in one day. Repeated use of power tools. Ability to climb and descend stairs repeatedly throughout the workday. Candidate will need to frequently lift, pull, or push up to 50 lbs.
