Direct Care staff at Centerboard are vital members of each youth’s treatment team. You’ll play a key role in maintaining a safe, structured, and trauma-informed environment while supporting youth through daily routines, emotional challenges, and skill development. You’ll actively teach healthier coping strategies, respond to crises, and model positive behaviors. Staff are expected to engage with youth compassionately, maintain detailed documentation, and help foster a safe, clean, and supportive living environment. Key Responsibilities Support Daily Living: Supervise and assist youth with activities including transportation, medical appointments, school, therapy, and life skills. Documentation (50% of the role): Complete daily logs, incident reports, progress notes, and required program paperwork. Youth Engagement (35% of the role): Build healthy relationships, lead group and 1:1 sessions, and participate in daily activities. Crisis Response: Apply de-escalation and behavior management techniques as trained. Advocacy & Coordination: Participate in treatment meetings, maintain awareness of Individual Behavior Support Plans (IBSPs), and advocate for residents. Facility Oversight: Maintain cleanliness, conduct room checks, plan and prep meals, and ensure safety protocols are followed. Medication & Safety: Administer medications per MAP certification, complete random drug tests, and run fire drills as scheduled. Team Communication: Relay information across shifts, utilize the On-Call system for support, and report concerns promptly. Training & Compliance: Attend required trainings and track training hours in accordance with program and licensing standards. Qualifications & Competencies High School Diploma required; college coursework or a degree is a plus. Experience working with youth or in a residential setting strongly preferred. Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills are essential. Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and be willing to use a personal vehicle when agency vehicles are unavailable. Must pass an initial competency evaluation and participate in ongoing training and professional development. Additional Notes This is a safety-sensitive position due to driving and medication responsibilities. Staff may be asked to support other Youth Service programs during emergencies or staff shortages.
