Position Summary: The CDL Equipment Operator will operate and maintain heavy equipment including excavators, skid steers, and haul trucks, and will transport equipment and materials between job sites. This position requires a skilled and safety-conscious operator with experience in excavation, grading, and underground utilities, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with ground crews and project managers. Responsibilities: Operate excavators, skid steers, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Perform daily inspections and maintenance (fluids, tracks, attachments, etc). Excavate trenches to proper depth, line, and grade. Set and backfill utilities such as water, storm, and sanitary systems. Read grade stakes and use laser levels for accuracy. Load and unload materials, equipment, and debris safely. Transport materials and equipment using company trucks and trailers (CDL required). Maintain awareness and safety on active job sites. Assist in training less experienced operators. Follow all OSHA and company safety rules. Attend daily safety meetings and use required PPE. Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately. Work well with supervisors, laborers, and subcontractors. Show up on time, communicate clearly, and maintain a professional attitude. Take pride in quality workmanship and meeting production goals. Qualifications: Valid CDL (Class A or B) with clean driving record. 3–5 years of experience in excavation, grading, or underground utility work. Proven experience operating skid steers and excavators. Knowledge of trenching regulations, ground disturbance, and job site safety. Mechanical ability for basic maintenance and troubleshooting. Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work outdoors in varying conditions. Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background, and MVR checks. High school diploma or GED preferred. Authorized to work in the U.S. Working Conditions: Outdoor work in heat, humidity, rain, and dust. Frequent climbing, bending, and lifting. Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and PPE required. Overtime and weekends may be required based on schedule. Pay and Benefits: $22–$28 per hour depending on experience and certifications. Higher rates for finish grading and underground utility skills.
