This position is a DOD Skillbridge Internship with the potential opportunity to become a full-time position upon completion. You must be active duty military and approved for DOD Skillbridge to be eligible The AFRL/RX Development Support Team’s training program is designed to provide a comprehensive and immersive learning experience for those who are leaving the military and entering the commercial work environment. The program is structured to ensure beneficiaries of the SkillBridge Program develop the necessary skills, increase his/her knowledge, and experience to succeed in his/her role, while contributing to the team's goals and objectives. Provide trainees with a thorough understanding of the AFRL/RX Application & Development Support Team's role and responsibilities Develop the skills and knowledge required to support web applications hosted on the RX Intranet and RX SharePoint Sites Familiarize trainees with the team's tools and technologies, including ColdFusion, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL Introduce trainees to the concepts of process automation and improvement, using ServiceNow and Power Automate Provide trainees with hands-on experience and real-world applications of the skills and knowledge gained throughout the program Prepare trainees to contribute to the team's goals and objectives, and to provide high-quality support to customers and stakeholders Requirements You must be active duty military and eligible for DOD Skillbridge Active secret security clearance Familiarity with computers, including typing, using a mouse, and navigating a Windows or macOS operating system. Basic understanding of programming concepts, such as variables, data types, loops, and control structures. Familiarity with HTML and CSS, including basic syntax, structure, and styling concepts. Familiarity with database concepts, including data modeling, entity relationships, and basic SQL queries. Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and think critically. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, and work collaboratively with others. Familiarity with basic IT concepts, including networking, security, and software development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Design and develop Kubernetes functionalities and modules to enhance cluster scalability, performance, and stability. Integrate and develop open-source solutions within the Kubernetes ecosystem to enhance features and build a more robust platform. Provide a more efficient platform for development teams, supporting automation deployment, monitoring, and failure recovery features. Assist development teams in solving technical issues related to Kubernetes' underlying functions and provide development support. Participate in Kubernetes cluster lifecycle management, including setup, maintenance, scaling, and optimization. Collaborate with operations teams to ensure the stable operation of the clusters and assist in solving complex configuration and troubleshooting issues. Design and implement Kubernetes management solutions across multiple cloud platforms, supporting seamless multi-cloud architecture integration. Continuously drive improvements in the cluster architecture, enhance automation, and reduce operational costs. Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS At least 3 years of Kubernetes development experience, with a solid understanding of Kubernetes architecture, components, and operational principles, capable of developing and optimizing the underlying technology stack. Extensive experience in Kubernetes cluster development, able to solve deep technical issues related to underlying architecture. Proficiency in containerization technologies (such as Docker, Helm), and experience with integrating and developing open-source tools. Experience with large-scale Kubernetes clusters and performance optimization, with hands-on experience in underlying system development. Experience with managing Kubernetes clusters in multi-cloud environments and designing crosscloud solutions. Proficient in automation, CI/CD processes, and promoting efficient automated deployment and integration within Kubernetes clusters. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to address technical challenges and improve system architecture. Good communication skills, able to collaborate clearly with teams and other departments to drive technical improvements. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Familiarity with service meshes (e.g., Istio) and monitoring systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) development and integration. Certifications such as CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) or CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer) are a plus.
