1980 FJ40 Toyota Land Cruiser: -Up for your consideration: -My “Prophet” is a North American Specification (NAS) 1980 FJ40 — This is a fine example of an extensive and complete Stage 2 frame on restoration — exceptionally and tastefully restored to its original stock condition including 100% emission equipment as it rolled off the factory – zero leaks -- using OEM parts with a couple of updates for daily driving comfort and convenience: unmodified with the exception of addition of 8” Tuffy center console and Kenwood stereo — all stock 1980 FJ40 TLC spent its whole life in Colorado (Denver area) -- I am the 3rd owner – purchased from Proffitt’s Resurrection Land Cruiser, Colorado in 2023 – restoration completed in June 2025 — Prophet is currently garaged in Texas is started and/or driven weekly -- Mileage shows 13,240 as of this posting — Clean Texas title in my name. Restoration completed June 2025: Complete exterior epoxy primer and single stage urethane paint June 2024 with all body parts and glass removed except for the front panel and firewall – every part that could be taken out was removed and either replaced or restored to its original condition -- new rear sill and quarter panels replaced as part of the restoration process — new OEM front bumper with dual tow shackles and OEM license plate bracket — new 2-inch receiver hitch flanked by OEM rear bumperettes — new rubber seals and weatherstrip as appropriate -- individual body parts removed, inspected, prepped, sanded and primed (DTM epoxy) and sprayed in PPG single stage urethane original Toyota stock color 854 Sky Blue – PPG single stage urethane original Toyota stock color 033, White for the 5 x stock restored original OEM wheels, front bezel and the fiberglass roof – Sky Blue/White is a timeless classic FJ40 color combination and highly desirable and sought after -- Prophet is powered by tuned, adjusted original 2F engine with power steering and electronic ignition -- she runs strong and shifts smooth through all the gears -- strategically installed combination of OEM zinc coated and stainless steel hardware (bolts, nuts, flat and lock washers) throughout inside and outside (including areas not visible to the naked eye)-- all lights (new OEM front, restored rear parking lights), switches, gauges and electronics function as designed (including the blue high beam indicator) – new OEM fog light switch (add-on) installed -- Front and rear jump seat frames restored and seats recovered with new marine grade seat covers from Cruiser Corps – fiberglass top received a new headliner -- new seat belts — new 8 inch wide Tuffy lockable security center console with stereo mount – the original radio slot houses a Kenwood stereo — new antenna in factory location — the dash is untouched except for the newly installed OEM upper dash pad -- rear heater removed and restored and blows hot – all 4 x full doors have been completely stripped and restored with new seals and weatherstripping restored 5 x Toyota stock OEM steel wheels and includes new OEM center caps including the matching spare are mated with 5 x BF Goodrich KO2 31x10.50R15 tires -- All new 5 x OEM Toyota badging (1 x front, 2 x apron and 2 x rear) – Bilstein shocks (previous owner installed) — the legendary 2F 4.2L mated with 4 speed transmission and 4WD transfer case functions well with great power and handles with a purpose — new catalytic converter and O2 sensor OEM fuel pump, fuel filter – original carburetor adjusted with new distributor rotor, cap and plugs -- engine idles at 750-800 and runs strong and shifts nicely through all gears – tie rod ends/drag link restored and serviced with new 5 x boots/seals — front disk and rear drum brakes serviced and functions well -- undercarriage in great shape with minimal surface rust – frame, skid plate and splash guards treated with POR15 – new OEM clutch servo – engine received new 20W-50 oil (2+ gallons), new air and oil filters — front and rear differentials, transfer case, transmission received fresh 80W-90 gear oil (2.5 gallons) — coolant flushed and all other fluids inspected and topped off. Includes restored and painted in Sky Blue (854) OEM barn door and a set of new in the box/never installed Aqualu front half doors and Bestop bikini top for the summer months – includes several usable/functional OEM original parts.
