Motorcoaches, also known as charter buses, are luxury 45-foot vehicles designed to transport groups of people from point A to B. Driving a motorcoach is a professional career, and there are incredible positives in addition to great pay and benefits. Do you like traveling to tourist attractions? How about professional, collegiate, and high school sporting events? Much of what we do involves taking groups on vacations or to their competitions. Do you like meeting and getting to know a wide variety of new people? As a motorcoach driver, your circle of friends will grow, not only with your fellow drivers and Windstar employees, but with our customers. Customers often request drivers over and over and great friendships grow out of these relationships. Windstar Lines is one of the largest and most capable motorcoach companies in the area. Our family owned and operated business is based in Carroll, IA, a small town of 10,000 based in Western Iowa. From this small town, Windstar has grown and opened locations in 11 other cities across the country. The owners are hands on in the day-to-day operations, and even drive during peak times of the year. Ownership and management have a deep appreciation for what our professional motorcoach operators do every day, and that appreciation shows in the family culture and fun working environment. As you think about a career with Windstar, here are some qualifications and must haves from us: 1. A SAFETY-first attitude, with Customer Service a close second. 2. A Class B or A CDL with an air brake and passenger endorsement. (CDL assistance available in some instances.) 3. Individuals must be at least 22 years old 4. A professional and neat appearance 5. Individuals must be able to lift 75 lbs. from time to time 6. Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and reference checks. Must be willing to participate in our random drug and alcohol testing program 7. High moral character, and a flexible attitude 8. Willingness to travel and be gone overnight 9. Good driving record What is a day in the life like? Motorcoach drivers arrive at shop and perform DOT required pre-trip inspection, travel in the motorcoach to pick up your group, and then the adventure begins. Trips are as short as a couple hour airport transfer, to a day trip across town or across the state, or an overnight or multi-day trip where you really get to know your group. Positions are available full and part time. Full time drivers earn up between $70,000-85,000 per year plus gratuities based on working 5 days a week. Part time drivers need to be able to work an average of 10 days a month including most weekends.
