Key Responsibilities: Perform Diagnostics and Repairs: Use diagnostic tools and special service equipment to troubleshoot and repair automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning. Test-drive vehicles to verify repair work and ensure vehicle safety and performance standards. Execute repairs efficiently and in accordance with manufacturer and dealership standards. Collaboration and Communication: Follow detailed instructions from service managers to ensure repairs are completed correctly and efficiently. Communicate the status of repairs and provide updates regarding additional work, timelines, and customer requests. Job Title: 1st Class Inside Manual Machinist Location: Shipyard – Inside Shop Shift: Day Shift Summary: Seeking an experienced 1st Class Manual Machinist to perform precision machining, repair, and fabrication of ship components in our inside shop. Must be able to work independently from blueprints and specifications using lathes, mills, drill presses, and other manual equipment. Responsibilities: • Set up and operate manual machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.). • Fabricate and repair parts for pumps, valves, engines, and ship systems. • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. • Inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy and tolerances. • Follow all shipyard safety standards. Requirements: • 5+ years machining experience (shipyard/marine preferred). • Proficient with manual machining and measuring tools. • Strong blueprint reading skills. • Able to lift 50 lbs. and work in an industrial environment.
