Camera Technician Brooklyn Film Camera is looking for a detail-oriented Camera Technician to join our Camera Department. We restore, repair, and maintain 35mm and 120mm film cameras for analog photographers around the world. The role is hands-on and collaborative, ideal for someone with technical aptitude and a genuine love of film photography. You will work alongside experienced technicians on customer repairs and in-house inventory while continuing to build your skills in a supportive, specialized environment. Skills Intermediate knowledge of camera servicing, preferably analog. Strong attention to detail across new and repetitive tasks. Comfort with hand tools, including bit driver sizes and improvising tools or parts for bespoke tasks. Working knowledge of electrical systems, including inspection, testing, and troubleshooting, and familiarity with the corresponding tools. Responsibilities Assist in deep cleaning and refurbishing 35mm and medium format film cameras. Keep products organized from intake through stocking, both physically and in our digital systems. Coordinate with fellow technicians on customer repair needs and prepare quote estimates. Cross-train with colleagues to maintain skill parity and encourage collaboration. Pursue self-guided skill development when primary tasks are complete. Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and move equipment across stairs within the workspace. Experience Hands-on camera technician work, preferably with analog systems. Personal or professional photography experience and an understanding of how technical issues affect final images. Comfort with data entry and organization using online spreadsheets and team management platforms. Pay and benefits Starts at $22/hour DOE Quarterly bonuses based on company performance. Key Responsibilities: Review and build from technical drawings and report back to the Director of Millwork with questions, comments, concerns. Manages, tracks, and plans tasks according to the production schedule. Execute fabrication tasks on schedule, maintaining high standards of quality and craftsmanship. Operate and maintain shop machinery, equipment, hand, and power tools safely and efficiently. Work with a range of materials including wood, sheet goods, metals, plastics, and hardware. Prepare and track tools, equipment, and materials for assigned projects. Collaborate in improvements on build methods and technical solutions. Accurately forecast and communicate task completion timelines. Support daily shop operations, including material prep, assembly, finishing, and staging. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace. Track time and assignments accurately for project reporting. Assist with the upkeep of department tools, consumables, and equipment. Participate in post-project reviews, offering feedback and improvements for future builds. Promote and maintain a safe, respectful, and collaborative working environment Qualifications & Skills: Proven experience as a carpenter, fabricator, or related workshop role, ideally in in the commercial, hospitality, and/or residential fit out market. At least 3 years of experience in the manufacturing and/or installing of high quality, bespoke millwork products. Experience with all millwork manufacturing machinery – Panel Saw, Jointer, Planer, Widebelt Sander, etc. Strong knowledge of fabrication methods, materials, joinery techniques, and finishing. Ability to read and follow technical drawings, plans, blueprints, and sketches with accuracy. Competency with shop machinery, hand tools, and power tools. Excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, and pride in quality work. Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple tasks. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Team-oriented with clear, professional communication skills. Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
