Position Description: LTC is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining and be proficient in operating manual and CNC machining equipment. This role requires an independent Machinist with great attention to detail and the ability to set up, maintain, and operate machinery. This role will be responsible for producing and reworking high-quality parts which meet strict tolerance specifications. This role will also be vital in developing the LTC machine shop into a fully functioning production shop to increase our manufacturing capability and efficiency. Responsibilities to include: • Operate manual and CNC machines to produce low-volume production parts, making real-time adjustments for optimal performance. • Utilize a manual Lathe and Mill to modify non-compliant components. • Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to support production builds, including reworking parts and troubleshooting assembly challenges. • Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks on machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and tool changes. • Perform troubleshooting on machine issues. • Specify new equipment and tooling. • Specify and develop fixturing for machining precision parts with moderate complexity. Requirements: • 5+ years of experience operating manual machines in a manufacturing or R&D environment. • Experience with operating multi-axis CNC machines (mills and lathes) is a plus. • Strong understanding of machining procedures, materials, and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) • Good understanding of G-code and hand-editing code at the machine. • Strict adherence to health and safety regulations and quality standards. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manuals. • Strong Mathematical Skills • Analytical skills • Attention to detail • Teamwork and communication skills • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus • Familiarity with SolidWorks for interpreting designs is preferred. POSITION SUMMARY: Hardware assembly with hand tools into parts across one or more production areas ensuring required standards of quality are met DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: • Demonstrate good hand and eye coordination with the ability to use both hands in installing small hardware pieces (screws/rivets) and insulation. • Optimize daily production and on-time delivery performance • Notifies Supervisor of problems which affect the production/quality of parts • Completes all assignments in a timely manner and procedures are followed. • Responsible for quality and quantity of products. • Works with limited or no supervision • Must have knowledge of material speeds and feeds, fixturing and tooling. SUMMARY: Receives raw materials from railroad cars and delivers material in proper mixtures to hoppers in the storage area. Regrinds faulty product for re-use as raw materials. Ensures proper mixture of new and reground material. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: • Achieves daily quota for production. • Cleans surfaces and machines located in the Raw Materials Department. • Transfers raw materials from transportation containers through mechanical receiving systems to hoppers, blenders or tumblers. Mixes, by formula, additional raw materials including pigments, reground material and chemical agents to achieve and transfer appropriate blended material for use in injection molding machines. • Writes hopper labels describing the weight of the material and the weight of pigment contained in the material. • Operates the regrind machine to grind rejected products into raw material and operates the metal detector on the material to ensure it is clean and ready for reuse. • Reads production schedule to determine amounts of virgin and reground material that is needed to meet the production plan. • Performs minor maintenance on machines. Requirements Previous manufacturing experience preferred. Effectively communicate in both written and oral forms. Read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. Calculate amounts in percentages and fractions, including multiplication and division of fractions. Apply concepts of basic algebra. Basic knowledge of the metric system.
