Hawaii Academy of Arts and Science PCS seeks the following positions for the 2025-2026 school year: Elective Instructor - Hawaiian Language Grades 9-12 Tue and Thu 12:30-2:00 + 30 min prep Elective Instructor - Hawaiian Studies Grades K-6 and/or 7-8 To be determined based on school needs and applicant/employee availability. Summary: Plans, organizes and implements appropriate Hawaiian Language or Hawaiian Studies instruction in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential. Creates and delivers instruction. Develops and expands curriculum. Monitors student progress. Communicates with students and parents. Hawaiian Studies position participates in developing a Hawaiian culture program and activities including Ho’ike and Makahiki. Education, Experience and Qualifications: Relevant experience working with school age children. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Hawaiian Language: Must be proficient in Hawaiian Language. Hawaiian Studies: Requires travel to multiple sites. Requires valid driver license, satisfactory traffic abstract and access to a registered insured vehicle. Must be ethical and honest. Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, follow-through, and oral and written communication skills. Must be extremely flexible and able to work independently. Must be knowledgeable and comfortable working with technology and software programs, and be able to acquire additional skills for use of software, databases or other information systems as necessary. Must be able to meet professional obligations through effective work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others. Must be able to successfully analyze information, manage complexity, report results, enter data, and observe school and state policies as well as state and federal laws with attention to detail, confidentiality, and thoroughness. Must accept responsibility and be self-motivated. Must maintain a high level of confidentiality with regard to employees, students and parents and work effectively with school staff, district personnel, and the general public. Job Description Spend 2-4 hours in the afternoon, up to 5 days per week working with a bright, spirited, high functioning Down Syndrome high school student. Help him fulfill fitness/exercise goals, learn basic life skills, and get out to have interesting experiences in the community on a daily basis after school. Understand and work to achieve developmental goals set by the parents while acting as a safe and positive presence for the individual as he navigates the community. Provide feedback to parents and actively engage in identifying challenges and new areas for growth and development. Get to know the student as a person and understand what motivates him and find positive ways to engage with him to support his and parents’ goals. Provide a consistent level of discipline and set strong boundaries to maintain the level of authority needed to drive results. Encourage and foster autonomy and independence in the individual as he prepares to transition into adult life. Desired Skills -Training/experience as a case worker, caregiver or applied behavior analyst -Experience working with individuals with DS and/or similar individuals with comparable disabilities -Competency in caring for and managing individuals with some degree of cognitive impairment and developmental delay -High school education required, college education desirable -Access to a car on a daily basis and valid drivers license Conditions -2-4 hours per day, up to 5 days per week after school -Some driving will be required, including after-school pick-ups and transfer of student to various locations and parents’ homes -Commitment to a specific duration of employment will be preferred to avoid disruption of services

Hawaii Academy of Arts and Science PCS seeks the following position for the 2025-2026 school year: Educational Assistant, Special Education (SPED) Grades K-6 Full Time Summary: Provides assistance to professional educators, counselors, social workers, and others by performing a variety of academic and non-academic instruction-related and/or counseling or guidance support tasks; and performs other related duties as assigned. Travels to multiple sites on a daily basis. Daily access to a registered vehicle, car insurance, and valid driver license are required. May transport students in HAAS vans as needed. Education, Experience and Qualifications: 1. Forty-eight semester credits of baccalaureate-level courses from a regionally accredited institution of higher education recognized by the Department of Education. The 48 credits may be from various program or academic subject areas. In addition, 6 of the 48 credits must have been for math and English courses at the baccalaureate level. Or, 2. An Associate in Arts (AA) or Science (AS) degree from a regionally accredited institution recognized by the Department of Education. The credits earned for the degree must have been for courses that are baccalaureate level. Or, 3. A certificate with a minimum score of 459 on the ParaPro Assessment provided by the Educational Testing Service, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
