Overview CDI Custom Design is seeking a skilled and motivated Shop Carpenter with 5+ years of hands-on cabinetry or millwork experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cabinet fabrication, an eye for detail, and a desire to take initiative and grow into a leadership role within our production team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, professional shop environment and gradually assume more responsibility, including overseeing small teams, mentoring junior staff, and assisting with daily production coordination. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities • Fabricate, assemble, and finish custom cabinetry, millwork, and architectural components. • Read and interpret detailed shop drawings and blueprints accurately. • Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently. • Ensure quality control and consistency across all fabricated components. • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace. • Collaborate with project managers and other shop staff to meet production schedules. • Take initiative in solving fabrication and fit-up challenges. • Begin assuming lead responsibilities over time, including: • Assisting in scheduling daily production. • Training and mentoring newer team members. • Supporting the Shop Manager in maintaining equipment and workflow efficiency. ________________________________________ Qualifications • Minimum 5 years of cabinetry or millwork experience in a production shop environment. • Strong knowledge of woodworking tools, equipment, materials, and joinery methods. • Ability to read, understand, and build from detailed shop drawings. • Demonstrated initiative, reliability, and problem-solving ability. • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well both independently and in a team setting. • Computer proficiency (Outlook, Excel, AutoCAD, 20/20, or similar) is an asset. • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus. • Valid driver’s license preferred. ________________________________________ Growth Opportunity This position is designed for an experienced craftsperson who is ready to step up into a leadership role.
