POSITION SUMMARY Assembles Mechanical products and mechanical assemblies to meet drawing specifications, working at bench or on shop floor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Utilizes basic assembly techniques to assemble components correctly. Uses hand tools, powered drivers, torque wrenches, and other basic hand tools. Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners as required by drawing specifications. Ability to learn to recognize potential quality deficiencies in assemblies and notifies department lead of such concerns. Assisting the plant with shipping and receiving activities. Operates drill presses, arbor presses, or various other machines to assist in assembly operation. Performs basic quality assurance functions to ensure sub-assemblies meet specifications. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Assists with loading and unloading large crates of product. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment evidenced by: being at work on time to perform assigned duties, following the policies of Granite State Manufacturing, always wearing safety glasses in designated areas, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, and following safety practices to prevent errors. Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by establishing effective relationships and networks with both managers and co-workers, and collaborating with them to accomplish shared purposes and goals. Abides by GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and strictly observes all U.S. and foreign laws and regulations. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and five or more year’s related mechanical experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches and written instructions. Must have the ability to build to assembly drawings and follow process sheets. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others’ ideas and tries new things. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Job Responsibilities Learn the process of manufacturing biscochitos in a timely manner. Preparation of the biscochito and wedding cookie dough. Learning to work a dough sheeter machine, commercial mixers, commercial ovens, sealing machines, hand cutting, and baking all biscochitos. Employees will also learn how to use our register systems and shipping systems. Complete any packaging including any labels and expiration date labels. All packaging will require using a sealing machine. Stocking all of our inventory properly. Always willing to follow instructions and able to receive constructive criticism. Able to work respectfully with others and listen to other employees before jumping to a conclusion. Provide excellent customer service, address the needs of our customers in a timely and effective manner. Follow and comply with all requirements made by the New Mexico Environmental Health Department as well our safety standards and cleanliness measures. Effectively follow all of our cleaning procedures to insure a sanitary work environment. Strong work ethic and the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift anywhere between 30 to 50 pounds. Able to work at least an 8 hour day standing/walking. Hand use: fine manipulation, single grasping, This work will require the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching. Ability to work flexible schedules. May require use of ladders. Able to assemble and charge basic magnetic circuits. Able to operate the ceramic saw. Work where needed, as directed by immediate a supervisor or leadman.  Willing to learn new job skills pertaining to magnetic assembly and other assigned duties. Willing and able to work with others as required. Perform other similar and related duties as assigned by supervisor and/or leadman. Mechanical experience preferred. Stand, sit, push, pull lift up to 50lbs. Maintain clean and safe work area. Complete tasks timely and efficiently in accordance with expectations as directed by supervisor. Able to operate tools including but not limited to, hand tools, manual machine tools, torch, drill press, etc. Ability to learn Eriez labor and work order collection system. Notify supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered. Requirements A high school diploma is preferred. More than 2 years of general assembly job experience or specialized training Knowledge of how to weld and operate a Mig welder. Willingness to tackle a flexible schedule and on-time arrival for shifts. It’s a benefit if you’ve worked with powered and manual tools before. Requires basic math and technical skills.
