1978 Mercedes 240D - Manual Trans, Diesel Sedan - $6,500 (Ashland)

For sale by owner, 1978 Mercedes 240D - Manual transmission (4 speed) diesel, sedan, running and driving in good condition. The car is registered in Oregon, and has been here for many years. The good - There is no major rust, the engine runs strong, the transmission shifts effortlessly. Brakes are in good condition, but should be changed in the somewhat near future. The oil has been freshly changed, the tires are about a year old. There are no fluid leaks from the engine, cooling system or transmission. The battery is about a year old and is in great health, and the clutch was replaced last year. Starts right away without trouble, drives really well. All the exterior lights work well. The not so good - The bodywork has small dents and scratches here and there. The weather stripping is beginning to show its age and should be replaced someday. The moon roof no longer works, and there seems to be a leak from it, which has caused the passenger seat to rust internally but has not caused any structural issues to the chair. The odometer no longer works, so the true mileage is uncertain. It rests at a little over 183,000. The radio does work, but the antenna was broken off some time ago. The cassette player in the radio does not seem to work, but I have not tested it extensively, so it might be fixable. The dash lights do not work, unfortunately, not sure what the issue is there. The dash is cracked. The passenger side headlight is cracked but working. There is some superficial rust on the driver's side by the door handle. The hood ornament was broken off some time ago, I have a replacement, but I am not sure if it fits. Looking to get $6,500, but open to offers and negotiations. Clean title. Call or text if interested!
