Whether you or your loved one are a seasoned professional, just starting out, or considering taking up an instrument, nothing helps you improve your musicianship as much as the guiding hand of an expert musician and teacher who can point out what you need to do and how in order to get better faster. My name is Joey van Leeuwen and I'm a drummer, composer and music educator with over a decade of professional experience in all three. I have a Master's in music from the prestigious New England Conservatory and I've studied drums, piano, percussion, theory and composition from legends all over the world. I spent the last decade traveling around, sleeping on floors, riding crowded trains, struggling in foreign languages, being interrogated by nosy customs agents, and sweating 120° temperatures in order to learn this, but thankfully you now don't have to do that! You can study anything with me, from how to play simple chords and scales, to your favorite songs, to advanced harmolodics and Indian polyrhythmic theory, and what's more, if I'm ever unable to hang with what you want to do, I have a wide network of contacts I can refer you to. My rates are very reasonable, well under what NYC music academies typically charge, and I also offer scholarships for students with financial need as well as bulk discounts.
