Panasonic 42" Viera digital high definition plasma television in excellent working condition--picture remains very crisp and bright, as you can see in the photo showing the screen on with a couple there. We have replaced it with a larger TV, but this one has been cared for well and continues to offer the outstanding viewing for which plasma screens are known and hard to beat! Comes with power cord, remote control, and original instruction manual. Panasonic's website claims that their plasma screens will last 42 years. Below is a description from Crutchfield's on-line site evaluation of the television at time of its release: "About the Panasonic TH-42PX50U Steve Kindig by Crutchfield's Steve Kindig With so many plasma TVs available, from brands both familiar and new, how do you identify the best performers? Well, only a handful of companies actually manufacture plasma panels and Panasonic is one of them. If you want your new TV to maximize the HDTV experience, the 42" TH-42PX50U belongs on your short list... This set employs a new pixel-by-pixel video processing system that increases horizontal resolution by 30%. Videophiles will also love this TV for something it lacks — a picture artifact called "false contouring." It's a common problem with digital displays where the transitions between different shades of the same color are too sharp and abrupt, giving scenes an artificially layered look. Panasonic's latest panels can reproduce 8.6 billion colors in total, with over 2,000 shades of gradation. Images look smooth and naturally "right," and scenes have greater depth."
