Being a Respite Companion or Behavior Support Companion is more than just a job, as you will develop a personal relationship with the individuals and families you work with. You will work in people's homes and in varied community settings serving families in San Fernando Valley area. This is a part-time position (up to 30 hours per week) with flexible hours, with the potential of growing into a full-time position. Responsibilities: The Respite Companion will serve as the primary support staff and will possess the necessary skills to deal effectively with the day-to-day challenges of providing respite services to clients, including the demonstrated ability to increase specified client skills. Maintain a positive relationship with the family or families cared for Engage with the client through activities they enjoy Provide personal care and support to assist with daily living care needs Conduct and lead socialization activities Responsible for record-keeping for each of the service recipients. Requirements Qualifications: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent Basic computer skills Familiar with developmental disabilities Availability to work evenings and weekends.
