Baywood Building and Design is a General Contractor based in Emeryville that specializes in high-end residential remodeling projects. We have forty-seven years of design-build experience and many repeat clients. We are currently seeking to fill a Lead Carpenter/Field Supervisor role. This position is for an experienced builder who can actively problem-solve on site, while leading a skilled team to ensure everything runs smoothly, safely, on time, to code, and within budget. Job Description: As a Lead Carpenter and Field Supervisor, you will play a critical, hands-on role in ensuring the success of our construction projects. We work on high-end residential homes, primarily in the East Bay. Having a strong knowledge of all the trades involved in residential construction would be ideal. We sub out some trades, but also do many in-house. You will be responsible for interpreting architectural and structural plans, ordering materials, managing crew and subcontractors, ensuring job site safety, communicating with clients and inspectors, and overseeing a small team of skilled craftspeople. Additionally, you will need to have your own tools and a truck for transportation of materials to job sites. Key Responsibilities: Order construction materials, ensuring timely delivery and cost-efficiency. Read and interpret construction plans to ensure correct execution. Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, managing their work and timelines. Conduct regular job site safety inspections to enforce safety protocols and standards. Manage a small team of carpenters, providing guidance and support. Ensure project quality, deadlines, and budgets are met. Collaborate with clients and project crews to provide effective communication and updates. Qualifications: Proven experience as a lead carpenter in residential construction. Strong understanding of construction plans, processes, materials, and techniques. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and related documents. Experience in managing subcontractors and coordinating their work. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Competent proficiency in Spanish. Ability to assist with estimating materials and labor. Commitment to job site safety and knowledge of safety standards. Must have your own tools and a reliable truck for transportation.
