Music Director: First Christian Church of Torrance, California www.fcctorrance.org First Christian Church of Torrance, a mid-size, Open and Affirming, Disciples of Christ congregation located in the South Bay of Los Angeles County is seeking an amazing and imaginative artist with a passion for music, teaching, and community to be our next Music Director. Who we are looking for: Someone who has considerable musical experience (at least 3-5 years) as both a pianist/accompanist and as a director of choirs. Someone who has strong teaching and communication skills and experience working with musicians of different skill levels. Someone who is capable of taking initiative but also understands that music making and the work of the church are collaborative and inclusive in nature; in other words, excellent relational skills. Someone with strong self-management and time-management skills. Someone with a basic knowledge of how budgeting works in a non-profit organisation. Someone who understands what it means to be a good colleague and collaborator. What we are offering: This is a part-time position of 20 hours a week with the following rhythm: Sunday Morning Worship 8:30 am-11:00 am (Service starts at 9:30 and usually lasts an hour. Weekly Choir Rehearsals -Usually Wednesday evenings-7:00-8:30 Special services or rehearsals as scheduled-usually during Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter Preparation for regular and special services. Salary: commiserate with experience but in the range of $2500-$2800 a month with a possible raise at the end of the first year of employment. 2 weeks paid vacation with additional time off to be determined.
