Position Summary Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this position is responsible for day-to-day accounting functions, including maintaining the general ledger, preparing financial reports, supporting audits, and assisting with budgeting. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data while helping the organization fulfill its mission. The CFO retains responsibility for final financial deliverables. Key Responsibilities: • Maintain the general ledger and ensure timely, accurate recording of financial transactions • Support the CFO in developing the annual operating budget and periodic forecasts • Prepare monthly draft financial statements and internal financial reports for review by the CFO • Reconcile key balance sheet accounts such as cash, receivables, payables, prepaids, and accruals • Assist with annual audit preparation by compiling schedules and responding to auditor inquiries • Track report on restricted and unrestricted funds, including grants • Oversee payroll journal entries and support payroll review • Collaborate with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness • Help develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls • Provide financial support to program and administrative teams as needed • Additional duties assigned by the Chief Financial Officer Qualifications • Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible accounting experience • Experience in non-profit or healthcare sectors is a plus but not required • Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting principles • Experience with audit preparation and monthly close processes • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Excel • CPA designation or candidate status is a plus but not mandatory • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a small, mission-driven team Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required Salary and Benefits: Salary is negotiable and commensurate with education and experience.
