What You’ll Do: Safely transport horses between our 65-acre farm on Johns Island and our downtown Charleston stables. Maintain and manage our three barns, ensuring a clean and organized environment. Feed, water, and care for our herd, including administering basic healthcare and medications. Groom horses, clean stalls, and prepare draft horses for tours. Assist with daily farm operations, facility maintenance, and small projects. Ensure the overall well-being of our herd while upholding our company’s commitment to excellence. Requirements What We’re Looking For: Confidence and experience in handling draft horses. A team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently. Open availability (7 days a week, between 6 AM – 10 PM). A valid driver’s license and the ability to transport horses safely. A professional and hospitable attitude—Charleston’s charm starts with us! Reports to: Production Manager Service manager will oversee an assigned territory of contract & company owned wean to finish sites. Responsibilities & Duties:  Train & manage farm staff to ensure proper production practices are followed.  Initial inventory & assessment of newly placed pigs.  Marketing – weekly projections & selection of pigs for market.  Work with maintenance dept. to ensure all site maintenance is current.  Ability to troubleshoot & adjust ventilation.  Accessing health issues and the ability to perform on farm diagnostics. Summary:  This position is responsible for assuring all procedures are followed in achieving the highest level or productivity in the most cost-efficient manner possible while still maintaining the specification of the customer. Other responsibilities include ensuring all workstation have passed USDA Inspections, promoting a safe work environment, ensuring accurate shipments, and proper coding of products. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for meeting volume goals, reducing claims, maximizing yields, reducing cost, employee retention and maintain good working relationships with other production supervisors, USDA (meat), and maintenance employees. Monitors slaughter area by evaluating product and administering corrective procedures as sees fit (i.e. provides indirect job specification training/coach and develop employees to obtain results).  Coordinates attendance issues by coordinating personnel to fill vacant or absent positions and minimizing turnover rates. Conducts pre-operational inspection of area, sets up production equipment, and submits maintenance work orders as needed. Ensures area is properly staffed/crewed to meet operational needs. Controls waste by minimizing products sent to inedible and providing sanitary working environment. Manages job changes/rotations. Ensure USDA regulatory compliance, HACCP, SSOP, SOP, GMP, and SQF program for product performance and safety. Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities:  Direct supervisor of assigned staff. Education and/or Experience:  Associate's degree from a college; three years’ harvest production experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. At Hidden Valley Orchards, we strive to create a family friendly agritourism experience. In 2025, the farm team will be planting and caring for over 2,000 apple trees, a market garden, u-pick pumpkins, a crop maze, livestock, grapes, and more. We will assist with projects around the farm as needed and generally be available to the larger agritourism operation as needed (i.e., hay wagon rides, lawn and garden care, etc.). We are seeking farm hands for the main farming season from August to November with the potential to extend the role in the future. Key Responsibilities Assist with daily livestock chores for small groups of animals Help with planting, pruning, irrigating, fertilizing, and cultivating of apple trees and grape vines Assist with a 1/2 acre market garden; weeding, harvesting, cultivating, tilling, fertilizing, etc. Assist with some observation bee hives Work with the larger agritourism operation on select days when extra hands are needed (i.e., hayrides, facilities care, unloading produce, maintaining food displays, etc.) Help with cultivating, planting, and harvesting of u-pick pumpkins and flowers and a crop maze Assist with fence and irrigation system building and maintenance Work with the team on other crops or agricultural ventures should they arise during the season.
