Monday, October 6th - Friday, December 12th - Must be available to begin immediately - Must be available to come in-person to Glendale warehouse every other week for material exchanges Pay for all Areas of Business (AOB) is hourly - including set-up and clean-up time. Responsibilities: - Facilitating in-person workshops and after-school science enrichment programs for children from preschool through elementary school - Deliver high-energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on programming - Meet bi-monthly to exchange class materials in Los Angeles - Attend paid training sessions. - Be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. - Be on time for all scheduled activities. - Adhere to strict safety and cleanliness guidelines. Qualifications: - Must be available at least 3 consistent weekdays from 12-5pm for the duration of the session. While this is a part-time position, it is critical that you are able to commit to the length of any given program (school season, camp session, after-school program, etc.), and that you are able to give us steady weekly availability. - Must have a personal vehicle as you will be transporting equipment to conduct programs and exchange materials - Some experience teaching/ working with groups of elementary-age (4-12) children (such as an after-school teacher or camp counselor). - Minimum of 1 year of college suggested. Degrees and/or graduate degrees are a plus. - Maintain a fun, flexible, & outgoing personality! - Enjoy teaching young children the art of science! We have two boys, ages 5 and 9, who attend Sierra Madre Elementary. They’re kind, curious kids who genuinely enjoy school. For the past few years, our 9-year-old has been receiving extra tutoring at home through a homeschool curriculum we love, and we recently started our 5-year-old on the same program. As my wife shifts more of her focus to her career, we’re looking for someone who can step in to support their learning. The role involves picking the boys up from school Monday through Thursday, driving them just four blocks to our home, helping them with their homework, and then continuing with the additional studies they’re already used to. School ends at 12:15 on Mondays and 2:35 from Tuesday through Thursday. It would be two hours a day, four days a week, for $30 an hour. We’d love to find someone who enjoys tutoring and cares deeply about education. Experience tutoring and working with kids is highly preferred.
