We are looking for a reliable and creative Audio Assistant/Engineer to join our team at our Brooklyn podcast studio. You’ll be responsible for setting up microphones, cameras, and other recording equipment, operating the audio during podcast sessions, and ensuring high-quality recordings. After each session, you’ll also upload podcast clips and files to our cloud/drive system for clients. This is a part-time opportunity starting at $20/hr with room to grow as we expand. This is a hands-on, guest-facing role where you’ll combine AV know-how with hospitality to ensure every creator has the tools and support to produce their best work. Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot audio, video, and lighting systems. Set up and break down AV equipment for daily use, productions, and events. Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs to keep systems in top shape. Assist members in using studio equipment, providing instruction and troubleshooting. Support Events and Production teams with technical requirements for activations. Provide tours and demos of studios and AV systems for members and guests. Key Responsibilities Pre-production - Research and identify potential shoot locations (factories, makerspaces, rural projects, etc.) - Negotiate access, filming permissions, and fees with factories and vendors - Coordinate with sponsors to arrange timely product deliveries and ensure all necessary materials are available for shoots - Arrange travel and accommodations for domestic and international shoots - Hire and coordinate freelance staff (camera operators, fixers, translators, drivers, editors) - Plan shoot schedules, shot lists, and production logistics Production - Serve as the on-location producer, managing the shoot schedule and flow - Act as the liaison between our team and local contacts - Assist with camera/drone operation when needed - Keep detailed shot notes for communication with editors - Anticipate and solve problems on the ground before they disrupt the shoot Post-production - Offload, back up, and deliver footage to editors - Provide editors with shot notes and maintain continuity of the artistic vision - Oversee the editing and finishing process, ensuring continuity of artistic vision between the host, camera operator, editors, and thumbnail artists. - Ensure all content meets the high standards and overall style of Strange Parts, Stranger Parts, and Electric Ranch.
