Job Description: The Residence Life Coordinator operates with a strong customer service orientation, grounded in student development theory, institutional priorities, and a keen understanding of the unique needs within an educational living-learning environment. In this role, the Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations of the Office of Housing & Residence Life’s comprehensive housing system, including the Housing Selection process. Additionally, the Coordinator serves as the Hall Director for a residential community housing approximately 300–400 students and participates in the on-call duty rotation to support student safety and well-being. Reporting directly to the Director of Housing & Residence Life, the Residence Life Coordinator plays a key role in fostering a supportive and engaging residential experience aligned with the University's mission. This is a 12-month, full-time, live-in professional position. Responsibilities: Housing Operations Support: Supports the comprehensive housing operations of the Office of Housing & Residence Life by managing the online housing system (Banner), overseeing new student housing assignments, the annual room selection process, room changes, student check-in/check-out procedures, and preparing housing occupancy reports. Coordinates all Residence Hall opening and closing procedures at the beginning and end of each semester, as well as during scheduled vacation periods. Oversees the damage assessment and billing processes, including the completion of Room Condition Reports (RCRs), conducting room and community area inspections, and compiling damage summary and billing reports. Manages the department’s key and door code inventory system, including protocols for lock-outs, lost keys, and lock changes. Serves as a liaison with the Offices of Facilities and Campus Safety & Security to maintain residential facilities and respond to student needs and facility-related concerns. Communicates, explains, and enforces housing policies and procedures to students, families, faculty, and staff. Assists with departmental projects and special initiatives as assigned by the Director of Housing & Residence Life. Emergency Response & Community Relations: Participates in the on-call duty rotation as the primary responder for campus emergencies or crises, including evenings, weekends, university breaks, and holidays. Enforces all Housing & Residence Life and University policies while responding promptly to situations affecting student safety, security, and well-being. Provides support and guidance to students experiencing interpersonal conflicts, behavioral challenges, emotional distress, or health and safety concerns; serves as a mediator for roommate conflicts as needed. Addresses and adjudicates low-level student conduct issues by investigating incidents, meeting with involved students, and assigning educational or disciplinary sanctions. Student Staff Supervision: Supervises, trains, and evaluates a team of 5–10 Resident Assistants (RAs). Participates in RA training and development activities, including August and January training sessions, retreats, and ongoing in-service programs. Monitors and tracks building programs and community engagement activities facilitated by RAs. Maintains regular office hours to ensure availability and accessibility to residents and staff. Leads weekly staff meetings with RAs to provide guidance, support, and ongoing communication. Required Abilities: Prolonged ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer or digital screens for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 10 pounds. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook for communication and administrative tasks. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to support departmental operations and student needs. Requirements Bachelor’s degree required; a Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field is preferred. 1–3 years of full-time experience in Housing & Residence Life or Student Affairs is strongly preferred. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively engage with students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a flexible and supportive team member. Strong organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach to managing tasks and responsibilities. Proven ability to maintain a positive attitude, exercise sound problem-solving skills, and effectively manage multiple priorities in a professional and timely manner.
