Text from April 21, 1997 article in the Washington Post: NOTEBOARD RESTORES THE JOY OF TYPING FOR LAPTOP USERS I constantly hear from people interested in getting a laptop computer that doubles as a desktop model. Many of the latest portables have good-size built-in screens, CD-ROM drives, high-capacity hard drives and modems, yet weigh in at less than six pounds. But there still is one thing that makes the desktop more comfortable: a full-size keyboard. The typical 101-key keyboard's additional real estate lets you type with full-size keys, a numerical keypad and separate cursor keys. Most portables let you plug in an external keyboard, but that's awkward at best. You have to place it in front of the portable's own keyboard, meaning the screen is several inches more away from your face. I find myself squinting. Now envision a 101-key board suspended over your portable's keyboard, and the objections vanish. That's what NoteBoard does. It's a quality, charcoal-colored, 101-key keyboard with four adjustable swivel legs -- one in each corner -- that let you position its height and placement. Its ergonomically correct palm rest adds to the comfort. I was able to type for several hours without feeling the cramped adjustment I have to make every time I use my laptop. Darwin throws in a matching mouse and a copy of its LaunchBoard utility, which turns the function keys into hot links to favorite World Wide Web sites and programs.
