$1,600 / 4br - Prime Park Slope Brownstone Bedroom in House Share (Brooklyn)

address78 St Marks Pl, Brooklyn, NY 11217, USA

Description

Furnished bedroom open in our peaceful North Park Slope brownstone. It is on the first floor, approx. 15' x 10', has bay windows facing the street, a full-sized bed, and a large wardrobe (no closet). The house is conveniently located near Barclays Center and multiple subway lines (2, 3, B, Q, 4, 5 etc). The home offers easy 20-minute access to Manhattan. The house currently hosts three roommates, and an independent top-floor apartment that shares the entryway. We are seeking someone who enjoys group living, keeping clean spaces, and is excited to proactively take part in the day-to-day shared household chores and occasional fixer-upper projects. Ideally you have good communication skills when challenges and differences arise, and assume best intentions/give grace in the face of uncertainty. We’re a calm home that enjoys social weekends but we’re respectful of quiet hours and each other’s work week schedules. This space is very much a home that we all love and care for, and are looking for someone who feels the same. We welcome applicants of all races, genders, sexual orientations, etc. All residents are vaccinated and we are only allowing vaccinated people into our home. Key Details: - Start date: August 1, 2025 - Lease term: One year or longer - Rent: $1800 (~$200 of this rent includes utilities electric, gas, Wi-Fi; but if usage goes up the whole household will need to split costs equally) - Common household costs (paper towel, toilet paper, cleaning supplies) - First and last month's rent required at move-in House Features: - Charming Brooklyn brownstone - Bedrooms and house are furnished. Tenants must have minimal furniture items. There’s minimal additional storage available (eg: lamps, stool) - Shared spaces: large living room, kitchen, two bathrooms, a backyard, and spacious entryway (can easily store bicycles). - This isn’t a boarding house or food-sharing community, though we love having occasional dinners, and shared snacks are always welcomed. Ideal Candidate: - Has experience living with others and partaking in everyday household responsibilities, and taking initiative or properly delegating when the house needs attention (e.g. changing a lightbulb, snaking the drain, etc.) - Practices emotional intelligence, comfortable in group communication and conflict resolution skills - Friendly, mindful, and respectful of personal space - Comfortable in an older historic brownstone home - Has an independent life but is open to occasional shared meals and hangouts - No pets please (already have one cat in the household) Current Household: We are three young professional residents in their early to mid-thirties. Lex (They/Them) is a white 31-year-old non-binary/trans-masc person who really, really loves rocks. Their rock collection is probably better than yours, but that’s okay because you can join their in-field classes/walking tours for adults and children when they’re not working as a geologist (from home full-time). They love a good time, cooking/eating good food, working with their hands, and showing up for their friends. They have a special skill of being able to befriend anyone instantly and pop off constant dad jokes. Nancy (She/Her) is a 33-year old Asian American who loves saying “yes and” to life and asking lots of questions. She loves to eat well and feeding people, hosting community events, dancing all night, going on arduous hikes, and trying to get to the bottom of her piles of books and class notes on social dynamics/healing modalities, play, and philosophy. She is also a full time media professional who works from home. Allie (She/Her) is a white, neurodivergent 34-year-old professional yapper from the land of Lincoln. Formally (but low-key forever) a Midwest princess, she moved to NYC so she can keep learning and growing as a person. Allie is a speech-language pathologist who currently works with students who have language based learning differences (e.g. dyslexia). When not advocating for neurodivergent individuals or doting on her sweet baby angel Peaches (her cat), Allie loves dabbling in astrology, pilates, dancing, and bed-rotting while in a reality TV show marathon. Application process: Please fill out this form, https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf2XKe8gRPbgclRRtjmlpve_8qxcNZVcYk7bNF4rmfAajnHlg/viewform and we will reach out! There’s a pre-screening call with the house manager, and an interview round with the roommates in a house visit.
