Position Summary To direct and perform work consisting of tasks of a varied nature necessary to the operation, facilities and services of the Society. Principal Responsibilities Attend, clean, guard or patrol an assigned area or public building, property, structures and/or gates in or adjoining the zoological park to keep order and cleanliness. Assist in allocation of work assignments. May inventory, order, pick-up and allocate supplies. Protect society property by properly securing and locking various buildings, stations or gates. Perform ground maintenance work including helping with landscaping, gardening, etc. Offer aid, help and directions and information to the public. Perform custodial duties where required. Assist in the cleaning of areas other than those assigned as conditions may require. Enforce the Society's visitor rules and regulations and those of the Department of Parks of the City of New York. Perform related tasks and duties as required. Qualification Requirements Ability to represent WCS in a professional manner and to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with employees, colleagues, City and other government agencies, outside contractors, and the general public. Valid Driver’s License (preferred) High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred) Physical Requirements The position requires outdoor work in all weather conditions. Tasks require manual dexterity and ability to safely use tools (e.g. drill, wire cutters, computer keyboard) and operate equipment (e.g. vacuum cleaners, pressure washer and related custodial equipment). Some tasks require climbing, kneeling, bending, navigating uneven terrain, and moderate lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, evenings and special events as the schedule demands. We are seeking a Shop Foreman with 10+ years of experience in architectural millwork or high-end fabrication to oversee daily production on our shop floor. This role is pivotal in connecting our design/engineering team with our skilled makers, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of craftsmanship. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES -Lead and manage shop staff, assigning tasks, setting priorities, and monitoring progress. -Oversee production schedules, ensuring projects meet deadlines and budget requirements. -Maintain strict quality control standards on all fabricated components before delivery/installation. -Troubleshoot technical and workflow issues, collaborating with engineering and PM teams. -Ensure best fabricating practices, machine maintenance, and set safety guidelines. -Coordinate with operating manager, project managers, drafters, and CNC operators to align shop output with design intent. -Train, mentor, and evaluate junior staff to strengthen the team’s skills and efficiency.
