For Sale: Martin Acoustic Bass w/ Slimline Pick-up. In the 1980's - 90's I had a guitar shop in Buffalo. I was a Martin/Gibson, Epiphone, Hamer warranty service center. I studied luthiery with Charles Fox (American School of Luthiery) and Jimmy D'Aquisto. One year before Martin introduced their acoustic bass I took a brand new Martin guitar off the shelf. I chose one with the best low end response. To the horror of the Martin rep and other on lookers, I took the new guitar over to my bandsaw and cut off the neck (it's cleaner that way). In a week I had a beautiful bass neck attached to the Martin. The instrument has not been set-up since I built it in the 80's and plays Fantastic. If you purchase at the asking price I'll do a new set-up and change strings to whatever you wish. It has a slimline pickup. There is No case. The case was for a guitar and the bass won't fit. It has never left the studio so it is almost as new. The pickguard still has the original plastic! It has a beautiful flamed body. One year after showing the bass to Martin they introduced theirs. The neck is old school Honduras Mahogany. Damper studs can be installed in front of the bridge for an upright bass sound. This guitar was made when they still built good guitars. It is a D-6732 Shenandoah. There is a well used one at gc $1600. Thanks for looking.
