I am looking to hire another FULL OR PART time In-home Aide to help me around my house in Lansing, NY. I am a disabled GWM 50s with Muscular Dystrophy. I try to be as independent as possible - but mobility issues require use a power wheelchair 24/7. My arms are getting weaker and weaker to where reaching/grabbing anything is difficult. I have an accessible van - but no longer drive - so having a valid driver's license is required. Experience would be great but not required. More interested in finding someone I can feel comfortable with/good fit. We can both learn as we go. Very easy going guy - just losing ability to do things myself. Must be motivated, work independently (see something that needs to be picked up, cleaned, put away and just do it) and as part of a care team. Reliability is most important - can pick hours but need to know will work them. Daytime or evening shifts 4 to 8 hours long. You can pick start time - very flexible. Assistance Needed: - Getting into/out of bed, dressed, etc - Meal prep - breakfast, lunch, coffee etc. - Feeding dogs and cleaning any messes - Loading/unloading the dishwasher, lite cleaning/ most just straightening up - Driving me in my accessible van to store/Doc appt., etc. - Helping me get changed/incontinence (in/out of bed with or without Hayer lift) - General help around the house - Lite yard work, watering flowers. - Grocery shopping; dinner prep/clean up Must love dogs - I do dog sitting so I often have several dogs over. Welcome to bring yours to work. Will need transportation - about 8 miles from Downtown Ithaca. Unfortunately, not near bus route - so must have a car. $20 - $22/hour via Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) and local Homecare provider company which also includes paid sick leave. Meals included - make lunch for me and yourself. If out running errands - I would buy lumch. Will need to get a general physical and TB test - cost is reimbursed by Homecare company. Very relaxed working environment - I am very easy going, just need reliable help. Everything else we can figure out as we go. Duties and Responsibilities: Administer local anesthesia (Under Direct Supervision of dentist present in facility - hygienist must have evidence of satisfactory completion of a board-approved course to administer). Examination of charting of patients oral condition, including probing and charting. Experience with Digital Dental X-rays Maintain currency through continued education courses and meetings. Assess patients' teeth, bone, and periodontal tissues indicating the presence of any abnormalities or suspected diseases or conditions. Co-diagnose with the dentist to develop appropriate periodontal treatment plans. Bring to the immediate attention of the dentist any suspected lesion in the mouth or on the teeth. Thoroughly remove soft and hard deposits and extrinsic stain from teeth, using hand instruments, ultrasonic cavitron inserts and prophy handpieces. Instruct patients how to practice good oral hygiene; make recommendations as to appropriate products or devices for patients' home care; and provide other health care education, as necessary. Perform prophylaxis in the absence of periodontal disease or gingivitis. Perform full mouth debridement, either as a first stage gingivitis therapy or to remove interfering calculus to further enable a more accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. Perform root planning as a periodontal therapy. Use lasers to perform soft tissue curettage or periodontal therapy.(Under Direct Supervision of dentist present in facility) Place locally-administered antibiotics as supportive periodontal therapy. Implement irrigation and desensitizing procedures or products as adjunctive to periodontal therapy. Apply cavity-preventive agents, such as fluorides. Bonding for pit and fissure sealants. Make recommendations as to patients' recare interval and follow-up needs. Taking impressions for take-home whitening. Application of bleaching agents and activation with non-laser light. Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including; HIPAA, Scope of Practice, Accreditation Standards, OSHA, and the Agency's Policies & Procedures. * All other duties and responsibilities as assigned and allowed under applicable state laws and regulations. Qualifications Dental hygienists must be licensed and in good standing with the State of California. Associates or Bachelor's degree in dental hygiene. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate. Dental hygienists must be willing to partner with the dentist, work well as part of the total dental team and should have good eye sight and manual dexterity, because they use dental instruments within a patient's mouth, with little room for error.
