Seeking intrepid musical explorers, female and male vocalists, poets, and other co-creators to improvise, jam, blend and record sub-genres of new age and experimental music that include ambient, atmospheric, neo-classical, psycho-acoustic, nature-based, repetitive/trance and minimalist, folk and traditional, jazz, soundscapes, world music, ASMR, and orchestral textures. Sessions happen in my studio in the Carmel / North Indy region. It's helpful to have some experience playing or at the very least, listening to these types of musical genres. I also welcome aspiring artists with a strong curiosity and desire to learn how to create soundscapes. I may be able to help you discover your unique path to being a sonic artist. It can be very intuitive, accessible, spontaneous, and simple. No prior experience required or instruments needed. Learn, grow, create and perform live immersive meditation experiences, sound baths, other audio/video/multimedia and conceptual art events, soundtracks to spoken words and poetry, etc. Not loud. Leaning into more chordal, modal, rhythmic/polyrhythmic and less atonal / painfully discordant / cacophonous. Small ensembles (duos plus) may perform at yoga studios, meditation spaces, spiritual centers, private concerts for fun (money is unlikely). The goal is to spark peace and joy in this troubling time. We may explore music similar to the stuff you hear from Hearts of Space, Spa and Zen channels on SiriusXM or the music from Windom Hill, Hania Rani, Eydís Evensen and Nils Frahm to Enya... Fred Again to Bonobo, Floating Points Four Tet, Svaneborg Kardyb to Two Lanes, Jacob Collier and his approach to audience choirs, and much more. If you're also interested in more mainstream music, check out my CL post for other projects. Of course it'd be cool if you do (or used to) know a little or a lot about electronics/synths, acoustic instruments, live and pre-recorded looping, sequences and arps, samples, organic sounds, MIDI and DAWs. Vocalists can come as you are. Familiarity with concepts around modes chord voicings and rhythm are a plus. My studio has a wide range of controllers, interfaces, multiple PC's and instances of Ableton Live that can all be synced, hundreds of instrument and FX plugins, hardware synths, mics, amps, some stringed and percussion instruments. Sound can be amped through a PA in the space or fed into in-ears/headphones in stereo for multiple musicians. BYOI (bring your own instruments) or use mine. Lights would be nice too. I even have the fog and bubble machine! Email or text anytime. This will be an ongoing project where musicians can circle in and out of my orbit, so if now's not a good time, save my number for later and text before we all return to stardust.
